PGA tour.... and the couple of women golfers who come to mind for me (Nancy Lopez is the only one I remember the name) are probably of an older generation as well... I used to notice a little more back when we still got the paper, especially when the LPGA came into town on their tour...
There are a lot of Korean golfers in the LPGA now, most names hardly
known outside of the country. Michelle Wie, the teen age phenom that
we heard a lot about while we were in HI, is in her late 20s but has
only won one major, one minor tournament since turning pro at age 16. Paula Creamer is a bit older than Michelle but did better some years
ago, same as Anika Sorenstam. Those names might be vaguely familiar.

Yup, those are all names I recognize, now that I see them... I've
really not kept up... Once in a while, during golf season, someone might
be mentioned on the news, but since it's just the 3-min-top-of-the-hour
type news, women's golf is even rarer than men's... ;)

Presumably the 3 minute top of the hour news mentioned that Tiger Woods
won his 5th Master's on Sunday? The N&O had several articles on the
tournament this past week, including one about the plastic drink cups
used at the tournament. They appear to be collector's pieces, not that
I'd want one. (G) From what I recall reading about previous tournaments, pimento cheese sandwiches (it's a southern thing) are big sellers at the Master's refreshment stands.

N&O does give women's golf the short end of the stick also. They might
list all the players/standings in a men's tournament but only the top
10, if they even bother with that, for a women's. They get by with it by
saying you can get more information on line.
