We were at BJs within the past week and those assortment bags were there
then. Were you looking at BJs? I've never noticed BJs saying
discontinued on anything -- they just disappear it.

Title: Lobia (Black-Eyed Peas In Ginger And Tamarind Sauce)
Categories: Low fat, Indian, Posted
Yield: 4 Servings

1 c Dried black-eyed peas
2 ts Grated ginger root
1/2 ts Chili powder
1/4 ts Tumeric
2 Green chilis, chopped
1 tb Tamarind pulp or
NF plain yogurt
2/3 c Sliced onion
1/2 ts Cumin seeds
5 Cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 ts Garam masala
2 tb Cilantro leaves

rinse and soak beans for a couple of hours in at least 3 1/2 cups of
water in a medium saucepan. Bring beans to a boil over medium heat,
add half the ginger, the chili powder, and the tumeric. Reduce heat,
cover the pan and cook slowly for 45-50 minutes

Add remaining ginger, chilis, tamarind pulp or yogurt, mix it well
and let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, SLOWLY dryfry
onion to gradually carmelize it, as it begins to color add cumin
seeds and garlic (add a little H2O to prevent burning if necessary).
Remove pan from heat just as garlic darkens.

Pour mixture into beans, together with Garam masala, stir and cook
another 5 minutes.

Before serving, stir in cilantro leaves and serve hot.

I see a lot of "Close Out" signage. Seldom see "Discontinued" in any
retail store ..... catalogs, print adverts, flyers - certainly. At my
work we know when there is a product change coming - because the existing
stock is marked down dramatically. The change may be different packaging,
a different brand, a "deluxe" edition, etc.

Discontinued items are simply noted as "Sell Through" in the electronic catalogs we use to look up parts. I have used that notation from time
to time by showing it to my customer and telling the buyer that if s/he
wants it - now it the time. May not be available tomorrow. Bv)=

Title: Crescent Roll Leftover Chicken
Categories: Five, Breads, Soups, Dairy, Poultry
Yield: 6 Servings

8 oz (2 tubes) refrigerated
- crescent roll dough
8 oz Shredded cooked chicken
1/2 c Dairy sour cream
10 3/4 oz Can cream of chicken soup
1 c Shredded Cheddar cheese

Set oven @ 350°F/175°C.

Prepare a 10" x 13" baking dish with non-stick spray.

Separate crescent roll dough along perforations into
individual portions.

Mix chicken and sour cream together in a bowl; spoon
equal amounts into the center of each crescent roll
dough portion; roll dough around the chicken mixture
and lay into the prepared baking dish.

Bake rolls in preheated oven for 5 minutes. Pour
chicken soup over the rolls and bake another 10 min.
Sprinkle Cheddar cheese over the rolls and continue
baking until the cheese melts completely, about 10
minutes more.

No, this was at Wegmans... last week when we went shopping, those
Discontinued Item tags were on ALL the bags of the Hershey's candies in
that "original" bag size... and the discount was only 5%, so we're
figuring now that perhaps the bag is being changed in some way, and this
is a way to move the stock off the shelves so that the new/changed bags
can be put on display.... The cynic in us thinks they'll be fewer ounces
for the same (or greater) price..... ;0
