try to remember to have it done before we head north again.
At least by then... :) Better to have it already in place
when you get back up here... :)
If we keep talking about it, I'll get it done...........at
some point in the not too distant future.
Part of the strategy... keep it in mind... ;)
But we've got a big trip between now and then.
We can still be talking about it here when you get back from
your trip, I'm sure... ;)
Possibly so. Went by the site of the Wegman's to be in Raleigh today. Right now it's just a lot of dirt and machinery, getting the site
cleared and leveled I guess. But, the big fence surrounding it did advertise Wegman's so I guess it's a sure thing now.
And I like to have coupons for stuff I'd be buying anyway
especially... as well as for stuff that we might like to try, or
to help pay for something a little more special... :)
I do that from time to time, but mostly for the "try something new"
stuff.
Every little bit helps... :)
Yes, especially when the something new is a bit more than you would
pay for old faithful. I got some All Free and Clear laundry pods today--saw that Tide has a dye/perfume free one out also. But, Tide
pods were about 29.5 cents each, All were 24.5 so...................
We do a lot more of the "in for a few things" type shopping
now. (G)
We still don't do much of it... but there is the odd
occasion... ;)
We do quite a bit of it--made dessert for this week's LG meal
since we're not meeting next week. Had to pick up condensed
milk, cream cheese, graham crackers (found a natural one) "cool
whip"--found one without all the added junk--strawberry jello
(same as "cool whip") and fresh strawberries. It went over BIG!
I might make it for the next picnic. Now we have to pick up some
odds and ends for the trip.
With our usual shopping day being Friday, it's usually convenient
to pick up that sort of thing as part of our usual trip...
It's just as easy for us to get what we need as we need for some
things. Others, I'll buy in a large enough amount to last for a while; that's the non perishable foodstuffs and other things like
paper/plastic goods.
When it gets moved early because I'm heading out of town for
some trip, the same thing applies... the odds and ends for the
trip will supplement the usual stuff (or mostly supercede, if
I'll be gone very long)...
We picked up some stuff for the trip today--cereal, munchies, lunch
meat, laundry detergent..............mostly things that have to be
bought closer on to the last minute.
to go to Raleigh next week so may hit up Costco, Whole Foods
and Trader Joe's--one or all 3.
The ones not so convenient unless there's another reason to make
the trip.... ;)
Have to get my ID card renewed, easier to do it at the National Guard
facility there than to go down to Fort Bragg.
How often do you need to get it renewed...?
Usually every 4 years but since I'm hitting a certain birthday this
year, to get Tricare For Life, I had to come in this year. It had
expired last year on the normal cycle so they renewed it then for the short term to make sure I came in this year.
Costco and TJs are a couple of blocks apart, near where the Wegman's
is to go up. WF is further out but basically on the way home.
That is convenient... :)

We all do what works best for us. On the road is a lot different from
at home. When we stop at a W-M for the night, besides asking
permission, we always buy something--cold cuts, bananas, bread, etc.
I've also been (on this trip) buying fat quarters and will probably
make a quilt from just those.

True, I didn't pack my favorite wooden spoon this time but may, for
the picnic trip. We have a few things that go back and forth but most
of what's in the camper is what we bought just for the camper. Since we have a short turn around before our next trip, I'll probably leave

We all do what works best for us. On the road is a lot different from

make a quilt from just those.
Sounds like you've found some nice quilt shops along the way, then...

Our daughter really likes Melting Pot, plus she has worked at the
local one (as has her son). In our opinion, it is overpriced and
provides
little food. If you are interested in trying fondue, then some day
when you are here we can get out our fondue pot and plates and treat
you to a good beef fondue. We don't do cheese or chocolate though --

given you reasonable substitutes in the past that you could use.

Actually, Costco is not a bad place to eat. We often get their hot
dog special, consisting of a 1/4 all beef dog and a soda fountain drink
at the grand total price of $1.50. We get two of those, and split a churro and the bill is less than $4.50 including tax. We see some good looking pizza come out as well, but have only bought their pizza in the store to take home and cook later. I will admit that some of their
items that we have tried were less appealing.

Doing it somewhat later tonight but still the same day. Usual

a side of slaw--ok, but not great. The dressing was more of
a vinegar & mayo, on shreds (strings?) of cabbage.
So you finally got to one... ;) Too bad about the slaw, but
good that the meat was good... :)
If we ever get to another rodeo, we might go back to this truck, or
try something new. Our favorite gyro place had a truck but I suggested
we try something new. Couldn't do some because of corn (tortillas),
others didn't have the appeal that the bbq place did. Small rodeo so
not many trucks to choose from, but we did well with what we picked.
Or save to go under messy projects but most often they just get
recycled.
One gets way more than one can reasonably use, after all... :)
True, especially when you put it on hold for 5 weeks. Got all but
one day, got a duplicate of another day. Best they've ever done
for a long term hold for us.
Not bad at all... Have you finished going through the stack yet...?
Finished by Friday night. I did a lot of skimming, knew I had to get
VBS craft projects pulled together over the week end.

Makes sense. I'm finally caught up with everything but this is
going to be a busy week so I may backslide a bit on Fido.
That happens... ;) We'll just have to wait patiently... :)
Doing it somewhat later tonight but still the same day. Usual
Wednesday morning business, then saw my orthopedic doctor this
afternoon. Knee problems appear to be arthritis and bone on bone
(no fluid) on the one side. After the picnic I'll get the
injections of the synthetic fluid but he said I'll probably need
replacement down the road.
The synthetic fluid can work quite nicely... those injections are
better for you in the long run than the cortisone ones, too...
The synthetic fluids don't affect your blood sugar either. (G)
I will be getting them after VT, and before the picnic. Had my
months mixed up in the message above.
Then over to Sam's for a few minutes, a gulp & go supper and
out the door for VBS. We picked up a rostisserie chicken and
salad greens at Sam's to go with the blueberry cobbler at home.
Sounds like a nice quick meal... :)
It was; we topped it off with blueberry cobbler after VBS. Finished
the cobbler last night but still have a couple of muffins.
Steve got at the farmers market yesterday. Maybe next week? It
looks a bit quieter.
That does make for a busy week... :) The blueberries sound
quite tasty... and you would want to use them before they go
bad... Hopefully next week will be a little less crazy... and
let you get your account set up on Wegmans website... :)
Looking like Tuesday will be a quiet day, maybe I can do it then.
As long as you get it done before you head back up into Wegmans
country... ;)
I've got what, 2 months? Hopefully I'll get it done this week; it
looks to be on the quiet side.
First time I was in a Wegman's was about 1979, the Brockport
store. It was brand new, basically the same as it is now in what
it carries. No fabric that I can recall.
I don't really remember specific dates on that now... possibly,
too, it was either only at our store, or just an experiment....
Still, one that didn't make the cut. They were trying to be all
things to all people and couldn't carry it off.
Dunno... It was nice while it lasted, though... ;)
I imagine so--sounds like they were trying to be a bit of an old
fashioned general store but the concept didn't work out for them.
They sold it in the PX's in Germany--had to tutor a young man
from our church who worked for them when he was assigned to the
fabric department & didn't know how to cut yardage.
Good thing that you could teach him how to cut yardage... :)
Yes, as he had a customer and was looking somewhat bewildered. (G)
I'm a little surprised he didn't get some training.... but maybe
they thought it was a no-brainer....
Depends on how your brain is wired. I don't remember how long he
stayed in the department; they seemes to rotate clerks among the
various areas. That PX is where I saw a demo of a bread machine for the first time. At the time I wasn't interested but did get one a few years later after breaking my wrists.

Hadn't been hurting at all. Had a few twinges on the ride up from
Rachel's to Yellowstone but by the next day, it was full blown pain. Basically major pain until the end of the trip, all that riding,
little exercise of the joint.
Got home and back into the normal routine
with enough pain to say, after a week, "I'm calling the doctor" and got

Toughing it out but with our schedule for the summer, I don't
have much of a choice.
And when you were setting your schedule, it hadn't been hurting
quite so badly....
Hadn't been hurting at all. Had a few twinges on the ride up
from Rachel's to Yellowstone but by the next day, it was full
blown pain. Basically major pain until the end of the trip, all
that riding, little exercise of the joint.
Guess the trip nudged it over the edge into being a problem...
Undoubtedly. I'd probably had some off and on twinges before but blew
them off or didn't really notice them. Sitting for hours riding cross country made me aware of them.
Got home and back into the normal routine with enough pain to
say, after a week, "I'm calling the doctor" and got in a couple
of days later. Had e-mailed my primary care doctor in the
meantime; he said no referral was needed. Some minor relief of
the pain now and then, but pretty much a constant issue now.
At least you were able to get in quickly and get things
diagnosed... that did come on suddenly, though...
I was very glaad that he had a local opening that week. He has offices
in several other towns but it's much easier to see him in WF.
No, that was the NC State seafood restaurant at the state
farmer's market. This is a (small) chain place called The
Mayflower. More choices of the various seafood/ways to
prepare it at the restaurant but bigger servings at the
farmer's market restaurant.
The quality of the food is about the same at each of them...?
Probably pretty much. The market restaurant fries it Calabash
style--a light, almost batter coating, the Mayflower does a
heavy breading. I prefer the former.
I might prefer the former, too... :)
Probably so; the breading doesn't really do anything positive for the shrimp.
We also have some Irish oats on hand but they would not have
worked at all.
Cut differently so wouldn't have held together properly for
the crumble...?
That, and they take a lot longer to cook if done as porridge so I
figured they wouldn't be a good one to use.
Probably good figuring... :)
Had enough practice at it. (G)
get your account set up on Wegmans website... :)
So maybe after we get back from VT?
When do you leave for VT...? You'll need to do it before you
come up to NYS, or, I suppose, while you're here.... ;)
We're leavign next week but I'll be working at the sewing/quilting
expo the next 3 days. Won't have anything major to prepare for,
for the trip to NYS, just pack clothes, food, recipies........
And unpack VT stuff that doesn't apply to the NYS trip... ;)
That too. All the VBS stuff will be pretty well contained in one box
plus some big items (E-Z Ups, sound system, etc) that won't take long
to off load. Fun part will be resetting my mind so I off load or keep
the right spices, etc. At least we'll be closer to grocery stores in NY than we are currently.
Yes I remember that... you'd just gotten it before the second
Boyd Pond picnic, and Steve was demonstrating it there... :)
As usual, if it's a gadget, he has fun with it. (G)

We'll debate it if it's availabe, usually end up going elsewhere.
Back then, you could still get a hamburger medium rare... we'd
order our Big Beef Cheeseburg Specials on a whole wheat set-up,
and they were good... :) You can't get a hamburger done less
than medium well now, so I don't get hamburgers there anymore...
But the food is still quite decent, and not too expensive,
especially with the senior discount.... ;) Richard usually gets
the clamboat platter... sometimes I get the Reuben, on
sourdough... :)
Sounds almost like the old Howard Johnson's. I got the fried clam
strips there a few times.
Similar enough now... :) Decent food, including the clam strips,
and then good ice cream for dessert... and seniors get a free Happy
Ending sundae (one scoop ice cream) as part of their meal... :)
As I recall, a bit on the high carb side however.

I'll try to do it when we get back to NC, working off a hot

Can't blame you on that... Better to have a stable and safe
connection at home to do something that might be a little
tricky and/or take some time... ;)

I don't think I ever saw that, but again, my parents never took
us to a Friendly's that I can recall. We've eaten at a few, here
& there, but not very often.

Probably lots of factors playing together... the ginger and miso are
good digestives, and Fu made special effort to get a particular pH for
his dressing (the chemist in him)... I know that much at least plays
into it... whether there are other factors as well, dunno... might
well be, or maybe that's all... :)

You might practice clipping the digital ones to your card... and get
into the habit of clipping them regularly... even if you don't use
them the worst that happens is that they expire, and then they are
gone...
and if you do happen to get to a Wegmans, and buy something that's

shows up on the slip as a digital coupon redeemed... ;)

of course... :) But I don't think we'll find local sushi etc

Keep looking, but keep going back to him while he's open.
Other than the occasional Wegmans sushi, or buffet sushi (just to

when we were in the interim between his leaving Arigato and his

When the time comes, that will be soon enough to start looking around again... ;)
We went with Shipps to Dimitri's once to celebrate Dale's
birthday (happened to be going thru the area then). At the
end, he asked for his birthday dessert, an ice cream bowl.
The waitress brought out a big one, with 4 spoons! We
didn't let it melt. (G)
I'd imagine not... (G)
It was good, while it lasted.
Yup. :)
We weren't expecting the extra spoons/amount of dessert but it was
nice of them to do so.
Indeed... Lin's been known to bring out extra spoons if she thinks
there's any possibility that something might be shared... ;) And, as
I mentioned before, the birthday desserts do tend to be larger and
more
elaborate than usual... :)

Trouble is, that times out long before Wegman's is ready to

When Fu does retire, I doubt we'll find anything wonderful
enough to really replace it.... Still haven't found any Asian
buffet to replace our long-lamented Mandarin Buffet.... :)
Something may show up but hopefully Fu won't be retiring for
a good many years.
Had to tell with him... he'll talk retirement but the actions
don't bear it out... ;)
Hopefully he will keep going long enough to put his sons thru college. That will be a few more years, anyway.

We don't have any set standards for what we want in Asian meals. True, some places we've been to have been much better than others, but

Steve buys a lot of things at Lowe's; they have a program called My
Lowe's that is very useful. If he uses a credit or debit card, and
shows his My Lowe's card, the purchase gets registered there. If he
later
needs to find the reciept for one reason or another (return, check
date of purchase, etc), he can check his My Lowe's account on line and print out the infromation. Our new fridge purchase information is on there, as well as many other items bought over the last few years. (G)

One could order an AYCE, and just nibble along... ;)

Probably wouldn't add that much to the count.... I'd be "nursing"

I might have 4 if I was eating all day.... Richard might have
another beyond that, but maybe not.... I'd probably ask for some
sashimi instead of more rolls, and might get it... ;) One can
also have multiple appetisers, or more soup/salad with the AYCE....
Try all the different rolls you've never tried before? (G)

I picked some up a couple of times at The Fresh Market, before I ever tried Fu's. It was ok, to satisfy a craving for sushi, but not near
the quality of Fu's. The sushi chef was making some at Publix when we
were there a couple of weeks ago, maybe I should have ordered a fresh
made roll as a tester. Guess I'll just have to wait until we get back

It's a standard walker, with wheels in the front, skis in the
back. No seat, only 2 wheels. Steve was issued and used it for his
back surgery;
he tried tennis balls on the back at first. They wore out fast
so he found the skis on the internet. Gave my dad the extras for his walker as he used it in/around home before he went into the nursing
home. He had it there also but didn't get out that often so tennis
balls would have worked.

I thought about picking up a package there at Publix the last time I
was there. I turned it over and read the ingredients listing and
promptly put it back down. There were things in there that don't belong
in sushi. I can understand that wasabi might be colored, but other ingredients in there were some preservatives and other objectionable items. I don't recall the specifics though.

That would have made you dad's walker more maneuverable, having the
skis (or even the tennis balls) on the feet.... My walker was even
more
standard, no wheels on the front, either... just four feet... I did
get a heavy-duty one, though...
That would sound like one might not want to try their sushi then, for sure.... ;) If the objectionables were in the packaged soy sauce
and/or the packaged ginger, the roll/nigiri itself might not be bad, though... I'm still certain that Fu's would be better... and probably Wegmans' as well.... :)
