Would new lens help your condition? I did not have the impression that you had cataracts -- but something else.

traditional -14-ish myopia and astigmatism
that keeps changing (apparently as the shape
of the eyeball changes),

Yup, the shape of the eyeball affects the astigmatism (I've got that, too)....

I think the shape of the eyeball is the cause of
the astigmatism. Mine varies depending on the
water content of my body and consequently of the
eyeballs. Sometimes it's unmeasurable; sometimes
it's enough to cause hallucinationlike patterns.
This makes it hard to correct for.

then there is the
imbalance in the number or function of the
rods and cones as I've discussed before, then
there's the floater issue, and then there's
the new thing, which is cataracts. Oh, yeah,
and dry eye.

And that last also affects astigmatism (yup, have the dry eye, too)...

So you know. Mine can get so dry that they
recede into my head, and when I blow my nose,
stuff comes out the sockets. Very cool in a
gross sort of way.

Are they concerned about all the other things going on in your eyes, or
is it just the heart issues and such that make you not a good candidate
for surgery in general....?
