They have asparagus on sale for 99cents a pound, I bought some. I don't get fresh asparagus in Anchorage, oh sure they sell them...but for multiples of 99cents, and the multiples add up.
This looks so simple even I might be able to pull it off. Tomorrow morning. Right now it's 81 outside and 83 inside, not willing to turn on a propane stove
    for cooking tonight.

1 ea Yellow onion, finely chopped
    2 T Butter
    2 T Flour

That is a very good price. We would easily buy it at for that.

    Title: ANDOUILLE A LA JEANNINE
    Categories: Cajun, Appetizer
    Yield: 6 servings

    1 c Dry white wine
2 lb Andouille or smoked sausage
    2 T Honey
    1 T Creole mustard

Slice andouille 1/4-to 1/2-inch thick. Mix all liquid ingredients
and pour over andouille in a covered skillet. Cook over low heat
    untill andouille is tender.

Andouille is gumbo sausage for all you peoples who live away from the
center of the universe. You can use other sausage and it would taste
    okay.

    32F outside here.

Had some rain this morning, enough to get things wet, suns out at 13:00 and it's 79F. Time to attack the asparagus. Went to the store, spent about $35. Got to the checkout stand and realized everything I bought was a liquid! Yes, most of it is food not antiseptic.

That IS a good price for asparagus... Even in season, we do well to find
it at $1.99 a pound here...

And was it cool enough in the morning to tackle it...? :)

And was it cool enough in the morning to tackle it...? :)

Yes it was. And it came out surprisingly good, still have a bowl or three in the fridge. It's gotten hotter, 65F or so overnight, 82F both inside and out @12:30pm. Time to go lay in the sun, 20 minutes on one side, flip and 20 on the other. No sunscreen, repeat daily. I've got 10 days until I head for Phoenix for the spring training games with Michael.

So...now I have to decide whether/when to cook up some burgers. Large sized tomato's are 99cents for 3 pounds right now...but I bought a half dozen Roma's 2 days ago, along with four of those 33cents a pound bananas.

Not sure if I envy you.... certainly a lot warmer than what we have
presently, but that 82F is getting up to the upper threshold of my
    tolerance...

All gone now. So I found a chunk of roast in the freezer. It's sitting on the
cooktop with onion, garlic, carrot, spuds, thyme, S&P, in some red wine and happily burbling.

presently, but that 82F is getting up to the upper threshold of my tolerance...

As is mine. But I'm gonna luck out! Forecast for Phoenix is in the 85F range,
a full 5 degrees cooler than here in Lake Havasu.

Depends on how successful I was at finding seats in the shade.

Oh...fresh tomatos are to precious to waste like that! They get sliced into chunks, lightly salted, and eaten like that as finger food. Anyhow disposed of
all of them, and bought more of the big ones today (ones gone already, desert after the Cheese Quesidilla I made for breakfast). I went out for chorizo and eggs yesterday so I went light. Although I do have some eggs, lots of cheese, and there's chorizo in the freezer that I need to use up...I've only got another 24 days before I fly and 8 of those are in Phoenix...so it's getting down to use it, give it away, or throw it away as a last resort. When I leave there's no electricity.

Sounds quite promising.... Did that last more than one or two
    meals...?

IIRC 3 or 4. Been a while, went off treking in the wilderness known as Downtown Phoenix on I-10. Where you can disappear into a tunnel with a crowd of cars and never emerge.

Depends on how successful I was at finding seats in the shade.

Seats, as a general rule, weren't horrible. Mostly had shade by the 4th inning, except Tempe-Diablo which is sited such that the sun slides from right to left and ends up in the players eyes by the end of the game. Meaning it started on my right and ended on my left, it was the day I didn't put sunscreen
on my neck (the hat usually compensated). I've been there twice, it got added to our list of stadiums we won't return to.

long enough to turn off the electric... :) Flying back to Alaska...?

I have rented a one way car, Lake Havasu to Las Vegas and fly back to Anchorage
on the 5th of April. I'll be hauling two checkin bags since I bought a new computer here, ordered it, and it's a really big beastie, never thought I'd own
a water cooled PC, I kept the original packing materials for the trip.
