If income numbers are to be trusted, Hartford
proper households are something like half that
of Hayward, but northern suburbs of Hartford
have comparable and even better numbers.
Some do, yes. Hartford itself.... not so much. Houses in West Hartford
can go for silly money in some parts of town. Avon, Canton, etc are the same.

According to Data USA (presumably reliable), the
suburban Hartford property values compare favorably
with those of the San Fran and San Diego suburb ones,
but there's one telling stat - houses in your neck
of the woods go for 2.5-ish times median income,
whereas for comparable California cities the number
    is 6 or so.

    Violas don't get no respect.
Nup. And that's the way it should be [g].
They're right in line with the timpani players and the trombonists.
I'm not sure about the corpus of timpani jokes.
They're the drummers of the classical world. (duh)

Not really. Timpanists are in a world unto
    themselves.

over it as it sputtered, smoked, and expired.
Performance was that good before the mike committed suicide?
Well, the guy was a world-class (term bandied
about far too much, but in this case true)
entertainer if not that great a singer, and
people were happy to pay good money to hear
ungreat versions of great songs glued together
with a bunch of stories that started "Bricusse and
    I ...".
    ...can't repair a microphone?

That implies that they have much to do
    with microphone technology.

Do you take lessons, or give them?
What kind of question is that? ...
    Rhetorical?
Well, you are a musician, and musicians have a rep.
I'm largely a classical musician, remember.
    Like I said....

    And ... ?

But there have been rumors of marijuana-fuled
performances of pop concerts that I may have
participated in. Not that minor-substance use
has much to do with degeneracy.
Pot doesn't even count these days.

Sad - I used to date a woman, and looking her
up decades later found that she was teaching at
a certain college, where her Rate My Professors
reviews said something like, she's pretty hot
for her age but talks about having smoked pot as
though it were a big thing. Not realizing that
there was the day when smoking pot was a fairly
    serious offense.

Throw the oregano in the trash where it belongs?
Oregano tastes like varnish, not all that bad.
It's edible, as long as it's not in large quantities.
So is varnish, at least the original kinds.
I'll have to take your word for it.

As you would do well to do in almost anything.

And has, and will, pork producers of the
    USA watch out.
They're bacon to be able to export the other way?

It's uncharted territory, and we're all loinin'.

I've made three kinds now, the best being a
riff on the Gourmet magazine one. This one (as
with the others) is Kosher, given appropriately
    supervised and blessed ingredients -
    FUDGE-ALMOND MACAROONS
Gluten free too - no flour.

    Most macaroons are g/f.

    Mulled Ale
    categories: beer, mull, British
    servings: 2

    660 ml IPA
    6 Tb honey
    1 cinnamon stick
    50 g fresh ginger
    5 cloves
    2 cardamom pods crushed
    1 lemon
    1 pn salt

Weigh out all of your ingredients and pop into
a pan with the ale. Bring to the boil, ensuring
you don't leave the mixture on the hob for too
long as this will burn off the alcohol and
    alter the flavour profile.

Leave for a few min to cool slightly then
    pass through a fine sieve.

When ready to serve, warm in a pan and add a
curl of orange peel or a cinnamon stick for
    decoration.

Eep. Some do, prices do vary quite a lot. The average doesn't mean much.

I'm not sure about the corpus of timpani jokes.
They're the drummers of the classical world. (duh)

Not really. Timpanists are in a world unto
    themselves.

They generally can't figure out how to operate in the regular one?

    I ...".
    ...can't repair a microphone?

That implies that they have much to do
    with microphone technology.

It's also a good excuse for the singing.

Well, you are a musician, and musicians have a rep.
I'm largely a classical musician, remember.
    Like I said....

Classical types tend toward the tetched.

Once upon a century it was a demon weed. Kids these days only remember pot being legal in some states.

So is varnish, at least the original kinds.
I'll have to take your word for it.

As you would do well to do in almost anything.

When it comes to food, at least. When it comes to wine I have little
    choice.

And taking a ribbing for it, doubtless.

    Most macaroons are g/f.

Not all, but most. Passover ones are supposed to be coconut, egg white,
sugar and flavoring for the most part.
