Not contentment, as we've seen, but the
    opportunity to relax, wherefrom contentment
    would be possible.
    At least in theory... :)
    Not everyone acts on possibilities.
    True.

Sometimes, perhaps often, that's a good thing.
I maintain there's substantial redundancy in
the distribution of talent, insight, perhaps
even opportunity, and would put forth the
suggestion that it's the middle tiers, where
these are not fully or recognizably realized,
    where most creative churn occurs.

I suppose that if I were to be eating "American" food, I'd be ok with that, with substitution of veggies for the salad.... But I tend to be
much more interested in eating the variety of Asian foods that we
    usually do.... :)
I could eat beef twice or thrice a day every
    day essentially until doomsday.
Actually probably I could, too... :) Just don't get the opportunity
    for it... :)

And thrive on it, though something to lighten
the diet, such as pork, might be good now and
    again.

Perhaps. Nestling in amid the instruments puts
one in a comfy spot where one just doesn't care
about that stuff, not that I'm inclined to give
much credence to what's above in any case.
Just play the music, ignore everything but the conductor, eh...?
Even the conductor, much of the time.
    Hmmmmm.... ;)

Some conductors help the situation, but
just as many are a hindrance. The ones
who jiggle and dance tend to be in the
latter category. It was in one of the
music journals (not a popular one) that
I read a report by a guy who had been on
cultural tour in the then-exotic Soviet
Union and had seen two opposite approaches,
one by Rozhdestvensky, who hardly moved but
elicited a sublime performance; the other
by the then-young and dashing Svetlanov,
produced a concert full of sound and fury,
signifying not as much as met the eye.

    Lilli was given some sensible-looking
exercises, which she's doing with the
incentive of feeling better. They seem
    to be helping.
    That's good....

If she continues to do them. She missed a day,
which was bad, and then the PT called in sick
    next day, which was bad.

Ok... I'm overdue on checking up on Fords.... will try to get to that sometime soon....
    Please do, speaking of aging.
Exactly. Haven't yet... maybe later tonight...
Thanks for leaving that in as a reminder.... haven't connected yet...
Finally did connect last night... They send greetings to the echo...
and Burt asked about everybody, so I tried to fill them in... :)
Shirley fell in the bathroom a few weeks ago, and broke a rib and
bruised around it by falling against the tub side... She's healing well
from that, and they both sound pretty good... They aren't doing a lot of traveling this time of year, understandably... :) We're planning to
    get together sometime come spring....

Breaking a rib ain't fun, but if she's bouncing
back and continues to thrive, all to the good.

Never having been a real bird or a real
child, I can't speak from their points of
view, but to me fruit are decidedly
different from in my younger years.
True... and not for the better...
Seldom if ever for the better.
    Despite the optimists' proclamations... (G)
    The optimistic proclamations probably are
not from optimists, rather from cynics.
    Could be.... :)

I do know a kid who married a girl who is
a Cornell botanist, her father also being
a Cornell botanist responsible for the
development of a number of varieties of
fruit that are known for sweetness and
flavor as well as long keeping, so it is
possible that some progress is possible.

    ... Are part-time band leaders semi-conductors?

    I once gave a toast on a guy's 40th or
50th birthday in which I compared him
to semiconductors, and he said, from
    you that's a compliment.

Could well be... Just read an article that posited that people that are struggling financially might be more likely to be able to ease anxiety
by looking at the bright side in challenging situations....

I suppose that if I were to be eating "American" food, I'd be ok with that, with substitution of veggies for the salad.... But I tend to be much more interested in eating the variety of Asian foods that we

Or various forms of seafood....? (recognizing that Lilli wouldn't do
    that, of course)....

Perhaps. Nestling in amid the instruments puts

about that stuff, not that I'm inclined to give

I remember the very good results that Jerzy Semkov used to get from the
RPO, in his elegant and quiet manner.... :) OTOH, was just at a recent performance of the RPO where our current Music Director, Ward Stare, got
a magnificent performance of the Rite of Spring.... at one point near
the end, he was dancing on the podium... but it was, to be fair, still controlled.... :) He's not about flash for the sake of flash as our
    last young conductor was....

    Lilli was given some sensible-looking
