I comparison shop - always. Most of the stuff I buy on-line @ Amazon
has the best price ..... especially when you factor in the shipping
    costs.

You are probably buying different things, then.... :)

Well, yeah ..... we're different people with different needs, wants,
    and desires. Bv)=

Some things I do buy on eBay .... I do better on hard bound books than almost anywhere else. And I bought my latest automotive toy there. A
nice 2011 Chevy HHR for just $1650 - I was totally gabberflasted when I won that auction - both that the seller didn't have a reserve price and that I wasn't outbid. I really like it - and it gets about double the
fuel economy of Berthold the BMW.

Now that's a nice "toy"... Are you keeping them both in your stable...?

Yeah, but it's going to cost more $$$$. There is easy parking for two
rides. But with Bertie, the Hairy Hod Rod, and Dennis' Swedish Meatball
    it gets complicated.

I'm paring down my hard-copy books (except the cookery stuff) by
putting them out in the "Little Free Library" boxes spotted around the
    area.

Not a problem for me if you want to dispose of yours... we just aren't
doing that with ours... ;) Things do eventually get read again, in
    most cases.... ;)

I have limited bookshelf space. And many of the books I have in paper
I also have in e-reader format. I am keeping all of my Admiral Bob, Ike Asimov and Jim Michener and the aforementioned cookery tomes. I'm
    still short on shelf space.

A lot of our books are in piles or in boxes, granted.... :) When
we had to redo our kitchen because of the attic fire years ago, I
finally got enough shelf space for my cookbooks... The Wegmans Menu Magazine is fixing to overflow what space was left there,
    though.... :)

I used to have a three shelf 36" tall X 48" wide magazine rack in the
bathroom at the tin can. It held my copies of Gourmet and Bon Ap. When
it began to overflow I would grab an armload when leaving the house for
a medical appointment and leave them in the waiting room. For the most
part they were fresher and definitely more interesting than the old
copies of People and Parents laying about.

Title: Australian Pork w/Port & Coffee Sauce
    Categories: Pork, Sauces, Australian, Wine
    Yield: 8 Servings

4 3/8 lb Pork loin; boned (2 kg)
    1 c Strong coffee
    1/2 c Cream
    1/3 c Port
    2 ts Sugar
    1/4 c Water
    2 ts Cornstarch

    Set oven @ 350°F/175°C.

Remove rind from pork and trim fat to make a 1 cm layer.
Roll and tie the meat. Weight pork and calculate cooking
time, allow 25-30 mins. per 500 gr (1 pound) Place meat
in roasting pan. Roast pork for 30 mins.

    Combine coffee, 1/4 c. cream, 1/4 c port & sugar, pour
over pork. Continue roasting pork for calculated cooking
time, basting pork every 15 mins with coffee mixture.
This basting gives the outside a beautiful golden glaze
and helps to keep the meat moist.

Remove pork from oven when cooked. Keep covered in a
warm place while making the sauce.

Skim fat from the pan juices. Place juices in a small
saucepan with water, remaining 1/4 c cream, remaining
port and cornstarch. Cook until thickened, strain.

Slice pork thinly and place a tablespoon or two of sauce
on each serving. Remaining sauce should be available for
    guests to add more.

For the nonce we're playing musical cars. The "garage" is actually a
warehouse for the non-disposed (yet) packrat stuff Dennis and I have accumulated over long lives. There is a car port in front of that
which usually holds Berthold. However, if I am driving Bertie the Beemer
the HHR and the Volvo get parked in tandem. Plans are afoot to pave a
further portion of the yard which should alleviate the hassles.

I'm out of cookery magazines. When Conde' Nast dumped Gourmet in favour
of Bon Ap I dumped them. When the Bon Ap substitutions ran out I soon
had no cooking magazines in stock. So, now I'm recycling motorsickle

Some people will appreciate those, too... :)

We don't have any magazines that we'd want to recycle... mostly it's just
our ANALOGs, and those we keep.... :) The rest are part of professional
    or similar memberships...
