Understandable. I remember how I felt after
anesthesia. Apparently I sent some really
funny (alarming to the recipients at the
    time) e-mails.
I've not done that, that I'm aware of. Generally I stay off the computer
for a few days to let the stuff clear my system. I will be on some pain killers but hopefully lucid enough after the first few days to
    read/respond rationally.

You get to plan ahead ... I didn't have that
luxury, and it was worthwhile getting in touch
with people no matter at what low level of
    rationality.

will probably post a note after I get out of surgery to update folks here, however.
Please have him keep us posted.
Maybe I should start making a list of those he has to notify? (G)

You could have him just put reports on the
echo, and that would take care of part of it.

Thanks. I figure that the conference is kept
going more by users who care who can jump on
problems that it might take me a few days to
notice and that I'd be suboptimal at fixing.
The numbers on my posts give a guidance as to
whether others are receiving everything from
    Doc's.
And the numbers are good for me, sometimes if I want to go back to check
on a previous message. Sometimes I'll need to refer back to something discussed in more detail previously.

I'm glad someone else admits to using them
    now and again!

No problem with the occasional unintentional
glitch. We're not in a condition where we'd
have big a problem with excess messages anyway.
No, there were only about 50 in today's packet.

    And that's a good day.

Hopefully nothing serious but good thing you were around and able to help out. We were at a quilting retreat for the last 3 days--the
    knee is
She just sent 5 e-mails, indicating that she's
back safe and promising to see the doc if I
    see mine.
So, will you see your doc? I saw my ortho doc yesterday, got all the pre
op work up done. He's thinking I may hike the Grand Canyon when the knee
    is replaced. (G)

    Eventually I suppose.

I'm presuming that people knock themselves
(or their husbands' selves) out to make good
stuff and a good impression. So you all eat
    well as the result.
No, usually there's a lot of "junk" food. One lady does usually make a

cranberry coffee cake but other than that and the cheesecake, usually
nothing special. One lady made cheese/sausage balls this time; they were quite good. We brought in a box of assorted (small) cookies that were
popular with coffee during the day, brought home about a quarter of the
box but it's now close to gone. (G) I usually concentrate on my sewing
but do make sure to get some cheese cake at each retreat, other munchies
    are less of a priority.

Though some of these things sound good.

No, she does a lot for Mom and Dad so we don't fuss. She's a BSRN so keeps us updated on medical issues they're having--hopefully no emergency trips down to FL like we made last March when Dad had the heart attack.
Even if there's no quid pro quo, giving a
bunch of slack to those who are important
to you is important to you.
Quite so, and since she takes care of a lot of things for Mom and Dad,
it's not an issue for us.

I"m not flying them. Delta added a couple more flights, but they are
to > places we have no (known) need to fly in/out of, so it's not a concern > at the moment. The past few years, the airline of choice for us has been > Southwest, Delta being a 2nd choice.
Relatively sensible choices, given where you
    are especially.
We can usually get to where we need to go, even if Southwest does give "interesting" routing at times. One time, to get to LVNV, we flew from Raleigh to Miami, then a different flight out west.

The thing is that they don't generally cut
you a break for taking you out of your way.

Which is what I was raised with. Don't know what my parents would
have > done if I'd brought home a nut meg and grater for their egg
nog. Never > did, but just thinking about what the reation might have been.......(G)
Someday I am going to grate a piece of maple
(or something more aromatic?) to see if wooden
nutmegs were ever a realistic possibility.
Don't know, they might have made some interesting "decor" pieces.

Apparently that's the use they have now. Fit
into the slots of a curio box.

I'll still keep these in the file, but not use them unless a
    specific > one is warranted.
What you do in other conferences is no concern
    of us here.
As of now, this is the main conference I'm active in. I do get net mail
and, pointing off of Marc, do carry his area that he uses to send
notices to the points. Otherwise, nothing else; I dropped Home Cooking
and Writing a while ago. The latter had died a long time ago, just never
    took it off my listing.

You can save them for later, after I'm gone.

Most likely. I wonder about dog anesthetics
and sedatives - dosing of people is such a
finicky science, and the safe range for some
smaller pet should be even more constricted.
I'm sure vets learned about it in med school; we never had problems with
    pets and anesthesia.

The risk of anesthesia to dogs and cats
is twice that of to humans.

    Caesar dressing
    categories: salad, alternative
    yield: 1 batch

    1 pasteurized egg yolk
    1 garlic clove
    1 lemon, juice of
    1 ts Dijon mustard
    4 anchovies
    1/2 c hemp seed oil
    a splash of water
    1/2 c grated Parmesan.

Blend together first 5 ingredients. Gradually
blend in oil and water. Stir in grated Parmesan.

I know, sometimes you've just got to bite the bullet and get the job
done. This has been "in the works" since I first saw my doctor about it,
at the end of June. That visit was when he first brought up the idea of possibly needing a new knee.

Yes, for the folks here but there's also family, church family, American Legion/Auxilary members, quilters group.............that need to know.

They can be useful at times.

I know; I think there were about 20 in today's packet.

In reality, probably not likely but nice to know the knee would be able
    to do it.

True, but the ladies seem to be more interested in their sewing. Most of
them use the Wednesday afternoon time for other projects, the retreat
    for quilting.

I did have a sliver of the coffee cake but I'm not that much of a fan of cranberries. OTOH, I made it a point to get some cheesecake and sausage
    balls.

No, but the Miami airport had a nice Mexican food stand at one point. I
got a sample of their goodies on one stop. Another time we were routed
thru Nashville. Delta always sends us thru Atlanta.

    They're long gone.
