I've never been in one as there are none near Yellowknife. My
daughter in Fort McMurray loves hers and drives all the way to
Edmonton (435 km each way) to get to it to stock up on things about
    6 times a year.

All I can say is WOW!

I got a kick out my granddaughter describing the
wonderful Kirkland Signature vodka when she was very young.
"Everything is big there. Mommy's vodka is so big I can hardly carry
    it!"

Neither our Costco nor our BJs can sell any alcohol products. In this
area of Maryland, such can only be sold at stores which sell almost
nothing other than alcohol products. Those stores are allowed to sell a
few snack type of items such as chips, sodas, etc. It looked strange to
go into a grocery store in California or Louisiana and see beer and wine
    on the shelves.

    Title: SCALLOPS VITTORIO
    Categories: Seafood
    Yield: 3 Servings

    MMMMM-----------------------JUDI M. PHELPS----------------------------
    1 lb Medium scallops
    1/2 c Dry white wine
    2 T Butter
    2 Shallots; finely minced
    -green or yellow onions may
    -be substituted
1 sm Garlic clove; finely minced
    2 ts Flour
    Salt & freshly ground pepper
    1 T Flat-leafed Italian parsley
    -chopped
    2 sl Prosciutto; thinly sliced
    -and diced
    OR
    2 sl Bacon; crisp, crumbled
    Parmesan cheese; freshly
    -grated

Rinse scallops in cold water and drain. Place on paper towels to
absorb excess moisture. Cut into 1/2-inch slices.

Place scallops in 1 1/2-quart saucepan, add white wine, bring to full
boil. Separate scallop slices with wooden spoon and boil for 1 full
minute, no more. Drain. Reserve cooking liquid.

Reduce cooking liquid to about 1/2 cup (it will be almost 3/4 cup due
    to liquid from scallops).

Melt butter in skillet and saute shallots and garlic for 2 minutes.
Blend in flour and gradually add cooking liquid from scallops,
stirring constantly until well blended and thickened. Sprinkle with
salt and freshly ground pepper to taste (not too much salt as
prosciutto or bacon and cheese are also salty).

Add chopped parsley, scallops, and prosciutto or bacon, blending,
well with wooden spoon. Place in greased individual ramekins,
sprinkle with grated cheese, and broil until bubbly and cheese has
    melted. Serve immediately.

Our Walmart's just got beer here in Ontario. Some grocery stores as well.
However the LCBO is still the only play to buy liquor in this backwards
province at a HUGE markup compaired to everyone else.

Heck even beer here is insane $11 for a 6 pack of PBR swill as an example
of a "beer" most everyone has had.

A 26er of anything here in the Great White North is at least $33.

And beer here starts at $14 for a baby box.

It's easier sometimes, especially when the bagging counter is busy.

Bagging counter? I've never been in a Costco; I guess they must have places for you to bag things up. Do they make you scan your own groceries too?

At Costco and BJs, one usually puts small items on the belt. Large
items may be left in the cart. The operator scans anything in the cart
and scans stuff from the belt and puts it into the cart. No room to bag
it yourself. We bag our stuff in the car. They do have scan it
yourself aisles, but we never use those.

I'm not sure what NC Ruth meant about bagging counter.

stock in saucepan and add to beef. Simmer covered 90 mins to 2 hours
or until meat is tender. Slice meat and serve hot or cold.

Reserve gravy for master sauce. Strain through cheesecloth when cool
