Ah.... I'd not remembered that connection with her and Guinness... And
that reminds me that her day job was working with an advertising agency
    at one point... :)

    Interesting lady.

Too many people evaluate based on immediate
    financial effect.
    Indeed.

One wishes it were not so, but utopian
Socialism has shown itself to be but a dream.

New World Symphony, the American Suite, the American
Flag, and the less known but perhaps best of all the
    American Quintet.
Was that last a piano quintet....? and are you just tossing in the
flag, or did he write something called that....? The rest I definitely recognize... :)
String quintet. The piano quintet is pretty
Czech, though a lot of the gestures could have
    been American (just weren't).
Ok. I'm sure I've enjoyed them both.... :) And you didn't answer about
    the Flag.... ;)

Oh, yeah, I thought that was an offhand question.
Yeah, it's a real thing, rather cheesy (at times
laughable even) and fully deserving of its oblivion.
I'm reminded also of the "Columbian" Te Deum and the
"Indian" (as in woo-woo) violin sonata.

The health issues attributed to HFCS have never
been the problem for me in Coke, it's the way it
    makes the flavor less intense.
Not sure if I ever found any Cherry Coke made with cane sugar instead of
    HFCS to compare tastes with....

One can do the gedanken, bearing in mind
the easily compared regular Coke and
    Mexican regular Coke.

shelf with the other Coke products)... comes in California Raspberry and Georgia Peach flavors... It's a 4-pack... and a bit more expensive, but I've been getting it recently.... I prefer the raspberry flavor, and I drink it sparingly (one 12 oz bottle will last me a couple/three days), but at least I get a little of the coke and the caffeine back....
    That's weird (those are weird).
    Granted. :)

Did you hear how the stone mason came to
grief from a slab of rock? He took it for
    granite. It wasn't gneiss.

Everyone should know what to do with gray
    leftover potatoes and sprouted onions.
I suppose.... also sprouted potatoes.... (G)

    Though those are mildly toxic.

    Maple Citrus Granite
    categories: cold, dessert, celebrity
    servings: 8

    1 1/4 c water
    1/3 c sugar
    1/4 c lemon juice
    1/4 c orange juice
    1/4 c maple syrup
1/4 c lemon and orange zest
    1/4 c shredded mint, opt

Combine water, sugar, juices, and maple
syrup in a pan and bring to a boil. Reduce
heat to low and simmer without stirring
until all the sugar has dissolved, 3 to 5
min. Remove pot from the heat and let syrup
cool completely. Add the zests and optional
mint and pour into a shallow baking dish or
plastic container and place in the freezer.
Stir the mixture after 2 hr. After about
4 hr, the mixture will have begun to set
up, and you can score the surface by
turning a spoon backwards and using the
tip to scrape the frozen syrup into "ice
    curls." Repeat this scraping process
periodically, every 2 hr, until all of the
syrup is scraped into the consistency of
water ice. Serve after 8 hr.

Then I don't feel bad about not being aware of it... :)
