That Dick Francis? Or another one. Here's a
recipe that brings to mind another mystery
    writer, Dorothy Sayers.
You lost me on that one.... how does it bring her to mind....? She's
    one of my favorite authors....

Dorothy Sayers was one of the top British
detective story writers of the 20th century.

Title: Steak and Guinness Pie (Irish)

    Dorothy Sayers wrote

    Just think what Toucan do.

Good composers create and will do whatever it
takes to make music. Good publishers make money
for themselves and their authors and will do
whatever it takes to make a profit. It's all
understandable, but I'm definitely on the one side.
I suppose we need the publishers so that the music gets disseminated...
but the composers are the important part, really... :)

Too many people evaluate based on immediate
    financial effect.

New World Symphony, the American Suite, the American
Flag, and the less known but perhaps best of all the
    American Quintet.
Was that last a piano quintet....? and are you just tossing in the
flag, or did he write something called that....? The rest I definitely recognize... :)

String quintet. The piano quintet is pretty
Czech, though a lot of the gestures could have
    been American (just weren't).

described here, outgrew her Suzukiness and
    became a pretty good musician.
    Indeed a good thing... :)
I'm glad to have been a small part of her
    well-rounding-out as a violinist.
It's a nice feeling to know that one has been a help.... :)
I was very proud when she was appointed concertmaster
of the New World Symphony but lost touch with her
thereafter - she became too high-budget for me anyhow.
    Oh, well...

    She was exceedingly attractive, too.

It certainly makes things worse to overdo on them.... Once I'm a little better stablilized, I may experiment with drinking my beloved Cherry
Coke again and see if there still seems to be the direct relationship between the two.... the raised BGs and the HFCS ingestion...
Coke does hit the system hard and fast. It's
probably better left for the young 'uns.
The caffeine has never been the issue for me... in fact, it had been one
of the primary parts of my pain control.... I recently found some Coke
made with cane sugar instead of HFCS (not touted as Kosher, just on the

The health issues attributed to HFCS have never
been the problem for me in Coke, it's the way it
    makes the flavor less intense.

shelf with the other Coke products)... comes in California Raspberry and Georgia Peach flavors... It's a 4-pack... and a bit more expensive, but
I've been getting it recently.... I prefer the raspberry flavor, and I
drink it sparingly (one 12 oz bottle will last me a couple/three days),
but at least I get a little of the coke and the caffeine back....

    That's weird (those are weird).

True.... some things are harder to really take in the big picture....
Wherein I think lies the danger of letting
machines do any important work or that
    requires any kind of judgment.
    Exactly.
And even we skeptics often take for granted
that what the machine says is real or true.
I try to guard against that... :)

Unthinking trust in anything is troubling.

Indeed, it's important to have good raw materials to start with... :)
Less good food is not altogether insuperable.
True, but it takes a bit more effort... and/or skill... ;)
    Good household management minimizes the
availability of less good raw materials.
The best maximizes the use of even those.
    Indeed.

Everyone should know what to do with gray
    leftover potatoes and sprouted onions.

... Hearts are still red muscle meat, a sort of gateway offal.
    So they are.
Too bad so many aren't even willing to try them... ;)
I'd say "more for us," but that isn't true -
much of that good offal goes into pet food.
    Yeah, I know.... sigh....

    You're not kidney.

... Nothing's impossible for those who don't have to do it.
Bear in mind what I said about administrators!
Yup. I was thinking along those lines....

    President Coolidge's corn muffins
    categories: all-American, starch, celebrity
    yield: 2 dozen

    2 c cornmeal
    1 c flour
    1 c sweet milk
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 1/2 c sugar
    2 Tb baking powder

Note: no temperature noted for oven or time to cook

M's note: Sift togetherflour, cornmeal, and
baking powder. Beat milk with eggs and sugar
(use less sugar than it says). Fold dry
ingredients half a cup at a time into wet
    ingredients. Pour into paper-lined muffin
tins and bake at 375 to 400F for 18 to 22 min
