They were a buck less, weren't they. With my
eyesight in its current state, I might not be able
to tell Kevin Spacey from Sissy Spacek by sight
    alone.
I'm thinking they may have been half price, even.... There was also (it
Half price was probably a buck off back in
    those days [g,d,r].

Funny, ha ha... ;) I'm not THAT much older than you... (G) Probably 2
    or 3 bucks apiece....

still exists) a movie house that regularly would show two films for the price of one, and made an effort to have them have something in common
with each other.... I'm sure they charge more than they used to,
though... We kinda got out of the practice of going out to the movies...
I got out of the habit of going to the movies
when I outgrew trying to impress girls with my
art-eest-eek-ness, so in the 1970s or so.

Most of our movie-going was to movies we wanted to see for one reason or another, sometimes an actor/actress, sometimes the story itself... :)
My next-door neighbor was really into movies, and even worked for a
while running a theatre house in the neighborhood, and then for another
theatre downtown (the Little)... She took me to a number of movies that
she was interested in and wanted company... :) When they were running
the neighborhood one, she had me come work the ticket sales for the
midnight shows, and occasionally when she knew there would likely be a
good turnout for the evening ones... She knew the take would be
accurate, and I got to see movies for free.... oh, and help with the
    cleanup after, too... (G)

There are a lot of things I want, even if they
aren't quite real. Turkey Hill fat-free
    sugar-free isn't one of them.
And you are also more discriminating than MJ was... :)
    And less desperate, perhaps.
    Probably. :)
I'm still mobile enough to buy full-fat
things on my own when I have to.

    Indeed. :)

An octave jump just doubling the frequency,
no problem. It might have been that the other
frequencies that make up the timbre would be
messed up, but it turns out that by and large,
doubling them does no harm. If there's attack
or articulation, a good ear might be able to
tell a difference, but I'd guess most wouldn't.
And unless it had a lot of solo passages, even less likely that it would jump out for very many people....
It was a sextet or octet passage, so any
timbral issues would have been mostly
    disguised by the general jumble.

    Pretty safe substitution, then.... :)

... Don't hate yourself in the morning, sleep till noon.
    Been there, done that, almost.
We've done that.... Richard more than I, even.... of course being up
late makes it more likely.... ;)
I've slept past noon but usually have failed
    to hate myself.

Oh, that bit.... yeah, that doesn't usually happen here either... even
    before noon.... ;)

See if anyone at church is interested in them...?
More likely one of the local thrift shops. Most all of them
came from places like that originally.
You still might see if there are any takers among your LG... ;)
Probably not--last year I donated a number of cook books to the church yard sale and, in cleaning up after, didn't look like any had been taken.
Free is more enticing than a small cost....? (G)
A friend of mine was budget director at the T
and discovered that the cost of labor to collect
fares exceeded the revenues! so looked into making
Boston public transit free, She found that in
systems that have done this, ridership goes down
and vandalism goes up. Free stuff and those who
take advantage of it are stigmatized, it turns out.

I'd guess that some things are more advantageous (or valued) free than others... I suppose that the transit system might have other issues as
well... I could see ridership declining because of increased vandalism,
for instance... and the vandalism happening because of decreased
supervision, without having the money takers there on the spot... Here,
the bus company offers free rides for certain occasions....

    Easy Cajeta (Mexican Caramel)
    categories: sauce, sweet, dairy
    yield: 1 c
    4 c goat's milk

I see that would take a quarter of that unused gallon at Bonnie's... ;)

    ttyl neb

... I still have a full deck, I just shuffle slower now.
