Or there might have not been enough staff to attend to everyone immediately... if they were taking care of someone else, your call might not be able to be heard right away... I remember once having to go in search of a night nurse to get me the next dose of pain med after surgery... by the time I finally got it, I was really hurting...
Then one is reminded that it's not the Ritz ...
even though the accommodations (even bare) cost
    more than a resort hotel.
    Indeed... sad, ain't it....

It is. The hospital people would claim that
they provide more relevant services than the
Ritz, but I'd bet that spending 100000 bucks
at the Ritz would likely provide as much health
benefit as doing the same at a medical facility.

they didn't tell me about it; when it went off,
    that was a psyche-jarring experience.
Yeah, you'd think they'd warn you.... unless they thought you were so
out of it that you needed the alarm.... or something... ;0
    Neglect rather than malice, probably.
I doubt it would be malice... especially as you'd just arrived on the floor.... ;)

Heh. By the time they saw me, I was hardly out
    of it at all.

Too good for a student rental, not good enough
for a professional sale, so it sat there moldering
on the shelf until I came along.
Ah... Of course, that did make it available for your use, since it was still there... ;)
It seems the guy may have regretted buying it
in the first place, having been seduced by its
nice appearance - good color, double purfling,
    and so on.
Apparently he isn't a violinist himself...?

He trained at the Cincinnati Conservatory (at
one time one of the top in the world, with
Eugene Ysaye as the director, but that was Ago)
    - but as a bass player. I think he took lessons
in the other string instruments so as to qualify
to teach them at the elementary level, but
    that's not much.

That's not too shabby... ;) I'm not good on stairs, probably never
really will be again... although I do have my better days at times...
Joint and muscle issues haven't been that big
a problem for me so far, knock on wood.
Yup... hope that they don't get you too.... ;)

I have weak knees, literally, but now that
I'm below my normal weight that's not a big
problem; anyhow, it was not a pain issue but
the inability of the things to carry me.

They start at $90-odd, says the Web, and go up
to $1699 (I presume the special Medicare price).
So, I mentioned that to Richard, and he did some searching... found some sites that he had me write down so that we could mention it to the doctor(s).... apparently one needs a prescription to get it, but is covered by Medicare...
    Seems safer.
It does. And a way to better know what is happening... I think he's planning to request a script for it next doctor visit... or at least get
    the conversation started.... :)

Failing that, Wal-Mart has its own off-brand
versions for pretty cheap. They may or may not
    be any good.

    Spicy tartar sauce
    categories: sauce, vegetarian
    yield: 1 c

    1/2 c mayonnaise
1 lemon, zest and juice of
    1/2 jalapeno, finely diced
    2 Tb minced red onion
4 Tb kosher pickle, roughly chopped

Place all ingredients in a small bowl and stir
    to mix well. Keep refrigerated.

Could be... but insurance wouldn't pick up any of it at the Ritz... at
least not as things are set up now... ;)

But it takes a little time before they really assess that... in the
    meantime, there's protocol... (G)

Yeah, that's most of the issue here, too... not so much pain as

Really. I suppose it's worth checking out, though...
