Yeah, gas station jerky.
Did you have the jerky or the equally objectional meat sticks?
I don't recall; I haven't touched the stuff for decades.
Napa stewed in butter until melted is also good.
Common green cabbage is certainly nice that way, so why not?

Title: Gingered Green Beans and Cabbage
Categories: Side dish, Vegetables
Yield: 10 Servings
20 oz Green beans
2 fl Peanut oil
1 oz Ginger, minced
1 tb Garlic, mashed to a paste
1 Lemongrass, stalk, minced
20 oz Napa cabbage, sliced
1/2 ts Salt, to taste
1/4 ts Pepper, to taste
2 ts Hot bean paste
1 ts Sugar, to taste
Blanch the beans in boiling salted water until they are tender-
crisp and bright green. Drain well. Rinse to cool if necessary.
Heat the oil in a wok, add ginger, garlic, lemongrass, and beans,
stir-fry until aromatic.
Add cabbage, and stir-fry until the cabbage has just become limp.
Add salt, pepper, bean paste, and sugar to taste.
Note: The green beans can week or wrinkle as they are held. To
avoid this, prepare the green beans in small batches and do not
hold them for extended periods.
