Who knows what inertia lurks in the hearts of man?
Or mustard in the fridges of friends?

I just inspected the fridge door of some friends
    - two kinds, both of a certain antiquity.

Not totally impossible; I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have met/married Steve. May have gotten into computers and if I had, would I have
known > about Fido or not? I don't do internet chat/fb/etc so wouldn't have seen > you
Robert Frost's real point in The Road Not
Taken is that it all likely makes little
difference - our lives are determined more
by what we are than where we go.
Too many factors to pin it down the just one or two "what ifs",
    actually.

And in fact another topic for arid speculation
if any. But by and large, you are what you are.

Singers get a terrible rap. I've become
reacquainted via my friend Bonnie with someone
I knew 45 years ago, a soprano who was up-and-
coming at the time but who, surprise, is now
partially retired from singing but now teaches
at Bard College. She's really bright, but she
admits to being a bit of an exception. We've sat
around telling singer jokes the same way when
I'm around viola players we tell viola jokes.
Seems each occupation has its own set of related jokes.

How many football players does it take to
    change a light bulb?

In his case, he didn't have a family. Mentioned one other person in
    his > current life tho.
There are still other factors, which I can't
think of at the moment - most of them relate
to lack of funds or encouragement.
I think the latter was more of a reason for his non pursuit of a career
in opera at an earlier age.

    What's this late-blooming singer's name?

Diabetic or other meds? Does she carry water or some other source of hydration? I don't go out with a bottle of water as often as I did
when > living in AZ but still do carry it often. If we're making a
road trip, I > always have some on hand, if, for nothing else, to take meds.
Not diabetic. Tendency to dehydration, though,
so there are always bottles of water stashed
    various places.
Good, as long as she remembers where they are and drinks them.

Hydration is not an issue for me, but she has had
fainting spells, so it may be more important.

I like to put mozzarella on the top, then sprinkle with more Parm or Romano--really cheesy. Also, before I put the cheese on, I'll top it with marinara, not just warm tomato sauce.
Why do people lump Parmesan and Romano together?
    They're completely different.
I'll use one or the other; they're both in the fridge.

For me: Parm OK; Romano not OK.

    Scottish Macaroon Bars
    categories: sweet, starch, Scottish, odd
    yield: 24

4 oz potato, boiled, peeled and mashed
16 oz powdered sugar (as needed)
12 oz dark or milk chocolate for dipping
4 oz finely shredded coconut for coating

Place cooled mashed potato in a bowl and begin
adding powdered sugar, a little at a time. Continue
adding sugar and mixing well, and soon it will have
a fondant texture. Add enough sugar so that it comes
    together and is very stiff.

Line a baking sheet that will fit into your freezer
with greaseproof/wax paper or a silicone baking mat.
Shape mixture into a rectangle on the sheet and
place in the freezer 4 hr or longer.

Prepare the coconut by placing half of it on a baking
sheet in a preheated 150C/300F oven for 5 min. Stir
the coconut and continue to monitor closely as it
will brown quickly. Remove from the oven when golden
brown; cool and mix with the other half of untoasted
coconut and transfer to a plate for dipping.

Remove the macaroons from the freezer and cut into
your preferred size and shape, but keep in the freezer
until ready to dip. When you are ready to finish the
macaroons, melt the chocolate. Dip each piece into
the chocolate, and immediately coat with the shredded
coconut. Place on a tray to set.

Keep in a cool, dry place, preferably in a tin, and
    consume within 10 days.

    Hi Michael,

Who knows what inertia lurks in the hearts of man?
Or mustard in the fridges of friends?

I just inspected the fridge door of some friends

    We just have spicy brown.

Heredity and environment, not one or the other. (G)

Haven't heard the football varient yet.

TBH, since I wasn't going to go see him, I didn't take especial note of
his name & don't recall it.

True, but you may want to consider carrying a bottle also.
