N New England, and odds are some compromises are made due to
location.
Perhaps. From what I've seen, curry recipes
vary island to island and community to community.
What's real to your friends and neighbors might
be unreal to mine.
It can vary from town to town and family to family for that matter.
Probably varying with what was missing from the
cupboard at the time - allspice berries, pimento
wood, whatever.
for 2B, saying "here's your new home in first class."
United must be needing more revenue from me.
Not the worst problem to have.
There is the fine balance to be guessed at regarding
how much money to give them vs. what they're willing
to iffer (I left that typo in on purpose, because
it's never clear that they will offer any perks, and
it's an iffy situation) in return.
Sometimes you luck out and sometimes you're back by the toilets.
On United I get really lucky sometimes. seldom
massively unlucky. On American the day after
Thanksgiving your scenario played out as you
describe, and on my first flight, under Lilli's
protection, I got to sit next to her in a monster
seat and play Word Connect with snacks and wine
by my side, but the next flight was not quite so
pleasant: I ended up with an empty seat net to me,
but on the other side of the aisle there were
these sloshed dudes who had lucked into a half-
price deal in Premium Economy to Japan or
someplace but had to endure a monster layover in
LAX, during which one of them claims to have spent
$150 at the airport bar. They were making drunk
phone calls to their friends (and at least one
ex-girlfriend, which call got pretty raunchy).
I almost regretted qualifying for premium
economy, which would have gotten free alcohol,
only the flight was too bumpy or something, so
the FAs didn't do a service. Or they might have
felt weird about giving me a booze and denying
them any. I just put my head to the window and
snoozed, after the non-lead (of course) FA
confronted the kids and told them that if they
didn't cool it, the cops would be meeting the
plane; they actually managed to shut up.
After midnight, they become moaning vegetables,
or at least ghastly.
Do they multiply and become evil too?
Do ghosts multiply? I'm no expert on the subject.
The ghosts of brussels sprouts past? Asparagus definitely comes back
to haunt you, and garlic ... the less said the better.
Brussels? one of my least favorite cities and not
too up there in the vegetable department either.
Enough to make a child toe the line, that threat.
But one of the big justifications of the capitalist
system is that it fosters growth, and the airline
industry as a whole isn't going to grow much or
quickly. Individual companies may grow, but that's
at the expense of someone else's market share and
revenues. It's a field that's pretty invested out.
"How do you make a million running an airline?
Start off with two million."
Pretty much the same as racing horses, but without the stud fees.
What are the stud fees for a horse that came in
eighth in the Kentucky Derby?
