Books are different.... they can take over the whole house, pretty much with impunity... (G) Socks need to fit into a dresser drawer.... As it is, with about a tenth that, they and the underwear overstuff a large dresser drawer when all are clean.... ;)
I guess I could say I told you so, but I
    told you so!
That was a given, and you knew it... (G) Doesn't change the feeling
    about the socks... ;)

    Told you so.

Maybe, and one aim shared by many creeds is
the suppression of desire. I have desires,
but mostly not for material things. I've met
those actually seem to lack desire - they're
odd. Maybe they just can't express their
desires or even have completely suppressed
them; it is possible that they actually don't
have any - hard to tell.
Possible... Nothing wrong with desires... as long as they don't rule
    one...

There are entire belief systems that are
based on getting rid of desires rather than
just minimizing or suppressing them. I'm not
going to be the one to say they're wrong.

As for me, my needs are few, and my desires
equally few but not necessarily the same or
    even compatible.

Aside from the fruit, which they have to
price to sell, the other things you cite
have a longer storage life and are lower risk
    to stock.
The fruit in question is the bags of dried fruit, actually... that is a rather low risk to stock also....

Even lower, and if they don't sell, the bakery
can use them to make fruit cake.

One way they renege is by calling it a special sale, and stating up
front that there will be no rain checks.... However, I did just get a raincheck on a coupon for Mauna Loa macadamia nuts, where the shelf stated, temporarily out of stock, when I went looking for them...
I don't know the legality of that ploy in various
states. Better to call it a closeout, but in that
case, they could be called to task if they ever
decided to offer the item again in the future.
A special purchase, where stock is limited, might be legal, at least
    some places....

Opening the door to more shenanigans. A state
with strong consumer laws won't allow that
sort of thing to go unchallenged.

... If it's lush, green and thriving in the garden... it's a weed.

    Or Irish.

    Boozy vegan mashed potatoes
categories: starch, Texan, Irish, Thanksgiving, wwtt
    servings: 12

    3 lb Yukon gold potatoes
    cold filtered water
    1 ts kosher salt
1/2 c almond milk or coconut milk, room temp
    1/4 c olive oil
    1 ts kosher salt
    1/2 ts pepper
1/4 c (or tt) single malt Scotch

Wash potatoes. Cut into pieces and cover with
cold water in large pot. Add 1 ts salt.

Bring to boil over high heat. Cover, reduce to
low, and simmer 12 min or until tender.

Drain potatoes and return to pot, off heat.
Mash. Add remaining ingredients and whip
with electric mixer until smooth. Serve hot.

Not really something to be further discussed... ;)

Understood... and similar here, though probably not quite as minimal as
    you.... :)

Possibly... some of them might make a very interesting fruitcake... ;)

Perhaps.... I noted today in a BJ's coupon flyer I picked up in store
that the coupons were "valid only 11/19/18 - 12/5/18 while supplies
last" and in the fine print on the back, "Availability, selection and
pricing may vary by Club or BJs.com. Items available only while supplies
last." No waffles as to that not applying in some states....

    ttyl neb

... And so the gods said, 'E=«mvý+2P/r' and there was popcorn!
