I imagine your hostess may not agree with your assessment... ;)
Her husband did, though, and bought chuck in
contravention of instructions. But then he
was obedient and trimmed off all visible fat.
Sigh, all that lovely fat.... did you rescue any of it...?

As with most diet-conscious folks, they're lipophobic.
The delicious stuff got tossed on the spot, without my
being able to do any salvage work. Interestingly, when
I take down a chicken for them, they happily munch on
the cracklings that result and don't object to my using
the rendered yumminess to cook their vegetables in.

Round is best eaten raw, carefully dry cooked depending
on the quality of the meat, burgerized with addtional fat,
    or fried (cutlet or stir-fry).
That's about what I thought... We used to always get round (Richard
liked that it was a leaner cut.... I found that I was having more
difficulty digesting it after a while, and we went to tenderloin or top sirloin or ribeye steaks for broiling or pan-frying... fairly rare, of course... I've not done any proper stew for ages now, though...

    Chuck. enough said.

Sometimes even jocular misgivings can turn out to be well-founded...
or turn out to not really be a problem....
It's by no means certain that this woman means badly,
but neither is it certain that her judgment is sound.
Something to just watch, I guess.... One can hope for the best,
    anyway.... :)

Not my business, a little his family's business,
but even they can't do much.

Were I to want to commit suicide, a good way might be
to put myself in such a person's hands. Luckily, Lilli
is slowing down at least as fast as I am.
So you'll both likely not overpace each other...
    We shall see.
Indeed. As long as neither of you outpaces yourself, should be ok...

Should be, and let the normal forces take their toll.

Someone at the gig showed me that he'd scanned the
music and put it on his iPad, which was fitted with
a pedal for "turning pages." It seemed clever, but
I couldn't read the part off it. And while he was
joyfully demonstrating this, it malfunctioned anyway.
Figures.... ;0 I think there may have been a pedal for turning pagers
on that gal's setup, too... But hers was obviously much more enlarged
    than your friend's setup....

The guy who arranged the Dohnanyi thing for the
other day was waxing enthusiastic about this new
$1600 device that displays two pages at a time
at a resolution exceeding that of the printed part.
I recounted this story to him and he chuckled uneasily.

    Homemade jelly candy
    categories: sweet, gift, copycat
    yield: 1 batch

    8 pk (2 boxes) gelatin
    2 c cold water
    2 1/2 c boiling water
    6 c sugar
    5 pk unsweetened Kool-aid
    - or flavored extract with food coloring
    2 c sugar for coating

Prepare pans by lining them with plastic wrap and
vegetable spray. I used three 8x8" oven pans and
    two bread loaf pans.

Place cold water in a bowl and sprinkle gelatin
over top. Stir slightly to get all powder
    incorporated. Set aside.

In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil. Add s
ugar and stir. Let simmer, stirring until all
sugar is dissolved. Add gelatin mix to the sugar
and water mix. Once all the ingredients have
dissolved bring back to a boil and cook 2 to 3 min.
Remove from heat and let cool for 1 to 2 min.

Divide mixture into 5 bowls. Add one packet of
drink mix to each bowl. If using extract add 3 ts
and enough drops of food coloring to get the color
you wish. I used 5 drops of green for the lime candy.
Mix with a wire whisk to ensure all the drink mix is
dissolved. Pour into prepared pans and refrigerate
    overnight.

Place a nice layer of sugar on parchment and flip
the jelly candy on top. Then move to a new piece of
parchment and use a pizza cutter to cut into small
    square or rectangular shapes.

Let sit overnight. Then coat the bottoms of the
candy in more sugar and let sit out overnight
again with the newly coated side up.

Place in bags or airtight containers.

How sad... I have memories of watching my mom carefully trim off any
visible fat from the meat, since Daddy didn't like things to be
fatty.... I got past that after I left home... obviously... ;)

    Interestingly, when
I take down a chicken for them, they happily munch on

Well, that's chicken and not beef.... and people aren't particularly consistent, anyway... ;) I also remember Daddy always going after the
"good stuff", the drippings from under the rack on the broiling pan,
including the cooked blood and the fat mixed in with it... :) That I
still do, although I don't use the rack... ;)

Just a little too close to home, I suppose... ;)
