The man who was our primary care doc for a decade or two once told me
that he hoped to have a patient survive to 100. At that point he did
I wonder if that patient made it to 100.
Not yet anyhow. He'd be under the care of another primary now, with at
least two or three years to go.

If he makes it, it should be in the news. Maybe he'll
be lucky enough to get a card from the president?

have one who was 96. But then our Doc died in his 60s (third bout of cancer).
Cancer knows no such rules. As you know, my sister
ate right, didn't smoke or drink or do drugs, and did
regular strenuous exercise, but it got her anyway.
And in addition, being slim and pretty -- not it's relevant. My oldest half-brother died of cancer at age 85 or so. It was his third case,
    each being ten years apart.

By 85, the chance of dying is pretty high anyhow,
and it's said if you live long enough, it;s
    inevitable you'll get cancer.

From what people have said, he was a real hunter
as opposed to the armchair kind.
Yes -- and an author also. We once had a cookbook he published. Not
sure if it is still here buried in some safe place. He also had been a writer for some outdoor magazines and for the Baltimore Sun newspaper.
This recipe does not specify which sort of green chiles. I suppose it
    is dealer's choice :-}}
    Title: Lentil Stuffed Peppers
    2 Green chilies

Likely long horn-shaped ones, though any kind
    of thin-walled medium-hottish should work.

    KFC Real Chicken Littles
categories: fast food, copycat, poultry, sandwiches
    yield: 12

    2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
    2 ts paprika
    2 ts granulated sugar
    1 Tb seasoned salt
    2 ts ground black pepper
    3 eggs, beaten with
    1/4 c water
    Duke's mayonnaise (full fat version)
    48 pickle slices (optional)
    12 old fashioned dinner rolls
oil for frying (enough for 3 to 4" in the pot)
    4 chicken breasts

Prepare chicken breasts by cutting into 3" pieces
(or to fit your rolls) and pounding with a mallet
    or rolling pin. Set aside.

Heat the oil in a fry-safe pot to 400F (medium-high
to high). Preheat oven to 400F and line a pan with
    parchment paper or foil.

In a deep dish or plastic bag, combine the flour
and all seasonings. In a bowl, add the eggs and
    water together and beat well.

Toss the chicken pieces in the flour, then into to
egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture.
Repeat with all remaining pieces of chicken.

Flash fry the chicken, a few pieces at a time, for
about 2 min. Make sure to move them around to
prevent sticking. Remove the chicken, place onto
a stack of paper towels and rest while you repeat
    with remaining chicken.

When all chicken is fried, place onto the baking
pan and bake for 15 min or to 165F.

Meanwhile, prepare the sandwiches. Slightly toast
both sides on the bun in a skillet sprayed with
    nonstick spray.

When buns are cooled slightly, liberally add mayo
to each side of the rolls, place four pickle slices
    (optional) on each bottom half.

When the chicken is done, place a piece of warm
chicken on each sandwich and enjoy!
