Ah... then that wouldn't have been the one that was here....
If it ever comes back, try to see it--it's quite impressive.
The truck that carries it is also quite an information center.
I intend to... we shall see...
Might be able to go on line and find a schedule of where it
will be going. I don't know if it travels year round or only
certain months or what (IIRC, we saw it in the summer in GA).
I'd guess that they'd want to set it up places where people
would be encouraged to visit the outdoor site... but it still
could probably travel year-round, if it went to "sunny spots"
over the winter... ;)
Could be, or just works on doing updates before heading out again in
the spring. Probably lots of data to go thru yet from that era.
Does the Wall list all the Viet Nam casualties...?
All known ones.
I've always been curious about some friends that I totally lost
track of, that might ended up in Nam....
Another thing you could probably find out at the web site.
If I were more comfortable using websites, anyway.... ;0
Or, ask someone else who might be more comfortable using
websites....(G) What about Richard?
Sam was an equal opportunity chocolate eater. He liked both
semi sweet chocolate chips and Hershey's Kisses.
And you let him have them regularly....?
No, we never let him have them. He sought them out on his own,
if we were out of the house.
And you didn't have them stashed well enough to deter him....
Once it was cookies, cooling on the table. I'd told Rachel to
put them away before we went out; she was sure Sam wouldn't be
able to get to them. Came back and found he had managed to find
a way so....
Where there's a will, there's a way.... ;) Never underestimate
a determined canine (or feline, for that matter).... ;) Leave
it out, it's fair game... have to tuck it away... :)
Deborah thought she had it tucked away securely enough but..... Her
closet had a sliding door; I guess she left it open just wide enough
for Sam to get his nose into it, and from there, into the chocolate.
choir Valentine's Day fundraiser--Sam found them and devoured
all of the chocolate he could get into.
Some things you just don't think of securing until the cat or
dog finds them and demolishes them.... ;0
She thought they were secure in her closet--but not from Sam.
Could he open a closed door to her closet....?
A sliding door, yes, very easily.
Are you doing projects for Christmas this year....?
Don't know; we are sending a box of goodies from Southern
Supreme but haven't thought of anything beyond that.
Getting into prime time for making things for Christmas... ;)
Or deciding that they won't be happening this year... (G)
Haven't really discussed it this year; other things have taken
priority.
True... might be a default decision not to try any projects
this year, from the sounds of it... ;)
Probably so, but we've done last minute things other years.......
True... so it would be a quickie project in that case... :)
Haven't really discussed it. Found out there's another late spring
baby coming to a church family--at the shower, the mom confirmed it.
They have 2 girls already. The shower was at one of the local Mexican restaurants, nice change of location. I had a steak fajita taco
salad--it was good. Anyway, that's 3 more quilts to make, good thing I bought more flannel the other day. (G)

No latch on it, just a couple of doors on a sliding track. This was military housing so they went with low budget construction methods.

Might be able to hunt them down via other on line sources.
I have considered going down to our branch library and seeing

They should be able to help.
That's what I'm thinking... :)

It may have been in an upper cabinet, well out of his reach.
That would work... :)
Especially since he didn't know how to jump onto the counter and open

Yes; if she had shut her bedroom door, he would have not been

Another layer of (unintended) neglect.... :)
Not surprising tho, with a teen ager.

Worth trying; you might be surprised at how well it works (or

Wouldn't be too surprised at how it doesn't work... (G)

I understand. Steve has been using my net book from time to time when
he needs something a bit more portable high tech than what he has. He's looking, but hasn't found what he wants as a replacement for his older system yet. We got mine last year, upgrading a system that was almost,

See if anyone at church is interested in them...?
More likely one of the local thrift shops. Most all of them
came from places like that originally.
You still might see if there are any takers among your LG... ;)
Probably not--last year I donated a number of cook books to the church yard sale and, in cleaning up after, didn't look like any had been
taken.
Yes... although I'm ok with a wide range on a limited basis...
and don't like the talk shows generally....
They help keep Steve awake while driving. Listened to talk
radio first day of the trip, then from what he had loaded onto
the phone (wide variety) second day.
Again, different strokes.... too much talk just drives me
bonkers... not a good state of mind for driving... (G)
Nope, but sometimes they can be quite entertaining--especially
when a caller who doesn't know what he's (usually a guy)
talking about. (G)
I suppose sometimes that sort of thing can be entertaining...
most often I just find that sort of caller a bit exasperating,
especially when they should know something.... ;)
Sometimes they're just pure annoying too, when the caller is trying to insist that he is right, when he obviously isn't. Most hosts don't
keep callers like that on the line very long as a general rule, thankfully.

Possibly, or get some bbq as take out to contribute to the picnic.
Don't know what a full blown pig pickin' would cost but probably more
than the small turn out we've had the last few years could reasonably budget for.

so we'd do some of the other planned travel before VT, pass
on some of the other for that time frame and be home soon
after VT is done. They'd probably bring grand kids with them.
And one doesn't want to miss out on grandkids.... ;) Would you
still have time to schedule the Western NY leg...?
We would do that before VT or maybe early October time fram.
Right now, it's a TBD.
Understood.... keep me posted on that so that we can plan for
getting together whenever, hopefully.... :)
I'll do so, hopefully we can have a meal at Fu's as part of it. (G)

Are you thinking before or after the echo folk leave....?
Right after church so as many echo folks that are still around--and
all are welcome to attend church with us that Sunday--we can get things rolling. It'll be like the pot luck we had at your church last year.
Ok, that sounds nice... and I'd appreciate being able to go to church,
as you know... :)
BTW, do you think Edith and Lydia would like to drive down with you?
Dunno.... Probably not Lydia, as school starts up then, and she home tutors for the schools, so she probably couldn't get away.... I can
ask Edith, but dunno as she wants to be away that far that long....
I'm not seeing much of Edith on the echo and know that Lydia isn't on
it.
Edith's been busy with other things, and ending up going to bed
earlier... late evening was when she was doing her "social media"
types of stuff.... and the echo was sorta part of that.... She did
say to say hi to the echo folk... :)

those are just in the bag with all three flavors at BJ's....
We have a 3 month (expires later this month) card for BJs--might
have to check them out. Had one of those cards some years ago
and went but were less than impressed with the store. Maybe
they've cleaned up since.
We've not encountered dirty BJ's stores here... but I guess it
could be a problem elsewhere....
We did a brief check out of the Raleigh one today. It is cleaner now
but we're not going to take out a membership. Costco and Sam's have
what we need, noticed gas prices are cheaper at Costco also.
BTW, did you see my note to Dale with the news flash about the one in Raleigh's scheduled opening? N&O had a bigger story on it, said that
there will be a Burger Bar in the store.
The Wegman's here also has a burger bar. We have not tried it, but I expect that it would be better than the steam table offerings.

We used to have a membership in Sam's -- but dropped that when Costco opened in Columbia. We now have membership in both BJs and Costco.
The two stores have a lot in common -- but enough differences to make
it
worth keeping both. Our BJs recently opened a gas station, but we
still use the one at Costco. The one thing we do not like about
Costco is
that they do not have signs on the isles saying what is there -- BJs
does have the signs.
We can still use the other rooms for their intended purposes,
just have to work, the next few months, on getting the boxes
unpacked and contents stowed.

I did remember today when we went to BJ's... and since it was

No meeting this week but puttering around in the sewing room, trying
to get it a bit more organised. Found out I couldn't use a gizmo I'd bought years ago for my first Pfaff (to wind thread off a cone onto a spool or bobbin) with the new machine. Steve suggested I use a bobbin winder I'd bought a few years ago so I put the cone on the serger, ran
it thru some tensioning and it worked. Wound a small spool to use on
the serger--it saves buying several cones of a lesser used color.

We're working on the kitchen table; I told Steve that every
few more days. Gives us more elbow room too. (G)
Sounds like it should work... (G) After all, you have to
prepare for a houseful come end of September... ;)
Hopefully our daughters before that.
Oh, right, that too.... I'd forgotten... :)
That's planned for July, latter part.
Still have some time left... but it'll be here before you know
it... :)
I know, and I'm working on getting things ready.
You'll probably make it in time.... :)
Now down to one daughter coming out. Yoounger one's company commander
said that nobody takes leave in July due to the work schedule.
The table is down to a managable mess so I'm working on the
coffee table now.
Bit by bit.... ;) And then be careful not to add more mess in
the meantime.... ;)
Trying to be good about that. Put a good bit of old paper
(magazines) into the recycle bin this week. (G)
Good going... :)
Another bunch went in yesterday.
More progress.... ;)
Yes but this week is a wash.
(Michael Angelo's chicken piccata)
That one comes in a 2-pack... and we've found that one of those
is about the right size for the two of us... There are 4 small/
med pieces of chicken and some veggies... along with juices....
OK, probably about right for us.
Worst case, you'll have leftovers for another meal... :) But I was a little surprised the first time we tried it that it wasn't all that
much after all...
The lasagnes were also 2-packs; one pack was enough for 3 meals
for the 2 of us. Guess we've got lighter appetites.
The lasagnes are definitely denser than the piccata... I can see a
lasagne going a lot farther, especially when paired with a good
salad...
Yes, I got about 20 (mostly full to unwrapped) cones plus a
storage box. The cones run about $6./each; the box another
several $$ and I got it all for $10--a really good deal.
Indeed a really good deal... :)
Steve also got a utility sink for the same price--he did an
improvised hook up on the deck so I could wash a larger quantity
of produce one year for putting up. We both did well. (G)
Sounds like...! :)
Probably enough of some colors for my lifetime and more.
Your girls may inherit the extra... (G)

I don't remember slices... different recipe, probably.... :)
Probably so; he was on the FDNY so undoubtedly had to come up
with some hearty meals for them.
That could be... We just had the second half of the Family Pack
tonight... no lemon, just some vinegar in Michael Angelo's
version... tomatoes, onions and garlic though... :)
Hmmmmmm, may have to doctor it up a bit if we get a pack. (G)
He lost about half his company on 9/11 & is dealing with major
health issues but still likes to do this for large Legion
functions.
Probably sees it in some way as a tribute to his fallen
brothers, so long as he can still do it... :)
Could be. He's active in the Legion (how we met him) and does the
picatoa for some of our pot lucks. I always make sure I get some. (G)
Tonight I'll do eggplant (in the oven) the same way I do
schnitzel--flour, egg and crumbs--but sub out panko for the
crumbs. Stove top will be salmon patties.
Sounds tasty... :)
It was; after I baked the eggplant, Steve gave it a quick heating in
the frying pan to crisp up the panko a bit (made it crunchier). I use
the whole wheat panko I get at Whole Foods so it's crunchier to begin with; this made it even better.

I thought the idea was for her to travel this time... :)

As long as you new knee is up for the trip....
It survived the trip to/from Florida so should hold up for a trip out west. I'll be able to do some exercising of it in the truck while travelling. (G)
Is anyone else likely to be interested in the tools...? And
are you likely to go back to help sort stuff...?
Again, unknown. We may try to get down there again this fall
but if the house is up for sale then, the tools will be gone.
True... but they might not be quite at that point yet by
then...
We'll see when the time comes. (G)
Exactly... :) Is that likely to be before or after the Cooking
Echo Picnic...?
The house is now up for sale. We still want to visit his folks
but not sure when we'll work that out. If nothing earlier, it
will be for one of the upcoming holidays.

Not necessarily. This discussion raged on a few years ago. Citrus and
