Having had my baggage mislaid, I discover that there are
thickish wool (expensive) and cotton (cheaper at $10 the
pair) easily available in New Zealand at least.

As I've said Richard gets his socks at BJ's... he tends to get cotton,
rather than wool.... but what he has to avoid are the synthetics...

That would indeed embrace the mush and was what I did
with the mediocre mirabelle plums from the market.

That could obtain in other somewhat similar situations... I've used that
motto on some leftovers from my fridge.... ;)

a way to fix things at the big dinner- for example,
making the three platters mild, medium, and hot, but
that would have put pressure on the kitchen.

interesting thought, though...

Easier to ask for some condiment and pass it
