NANCY BACKUS wrote to DAVE DRUM <=-
I just got another 50c per gallon discount applied to my "Fuel Saver"
card. I ordered a 'Bon Voyage' cake for my bosses going away party -
she's leaving for another job.
So Misty got the job she was tapped for....? Good for her, but
you'll miss her. I'm sure....
Boy Howdy. The district manager and territory sales manager came in to give her the "full court press" about an hour before her scheduled end
of shift (and employment) to try to get her to not go. Something that should have been done as soon as she gave notice. And their money
offer was insulting. Then there was trash talking the place where she
is going to work. When they got all done she unloaded on them .... it
was all I could do to cheer from the balcony.
They clearly dropped the ball there.... I know that this has been in
the works for quite a while now... about a year, maybe....?
This particular deal just appeared. But, Misty had been looking for
other avenues for a revenue stream .... she has enrolled in training to
be a radiologist - which is part on-line and part classroom. She's going
to continue that - so if the service writer thing blows up .......
So Bryan (my store manager) contacted the Regional Manager and threw
both the DM and TSM under the bus. The regional guy had not been aware
of Misty leaving until the day before her last day of work - and he
should have been in the loop from the beginning.
Absolutely.... and might have been able to do something had he known
from the beginning what was going on....
I think the TSM may be going to the unemployment line - ultimately. Not
that I would give the regional manager's contact information to any of
my shop people or anything. Riiiiiight .... when a shop owner tells you
that "If the @%%$ #@%%& comes around here again acting all superior I'm
never buying anything from you guys." I tell them "I can't control that.
But, here's Jason's office number - he can fix it."
It was hard to see her go. She asked me for a hug as she was leaving
and I was afraid I'd not be able to let go.
I hope you gave her the hug anyway.....
But, of course. And it was hard to let go.
And when I paid for the cake I presented my Fuel Saver and got the
spiff. They neither know nor care that Auto Zone is reimbursing me
for the cost of the cake. And Auto Zone doesn't know I got a
"hidden benefit". Bv)=
Nice deal... all around... :)
The only good thing (for me) from this whole rancid affair.
I hear you....
More pleasant things ....... before I start training a new boss.

Title: Megan's Perfect Pasties
Categories: Beef, Pastry, Vegetables, Potatoes
Yield: 10 Servings
125 g Minced beef (5 oz)
4 ts Beef stock powder
2 1/2 ts Black pepper; to taste
2 tb Rolled oats
1 Carrot; in chunks
1 Turnip; in large chunks
2 Onions; quartered
1 Potato; in large chunks
1 lg Beaten egg; glaze
500 g Rough puff pastry (separate
- recipe)
Place mince, oats, stock powder, peas and pepper into a
large mixing bowl. Stir together. I don't bother peeling
the root vegetables. Just chop roughly. Just make sure
carrot is cut a little smaller than other vegies as it's
harder.
TO CHOP VEGETABLES: Place into bowl in order listed and
chop on speed 5 for a couple of seconds at a time. Use
the spatula to stir around and chop again if necessary.
Add to mince and mix well.
TO MAKE PASTIES: Set oven to 200°C/400°F.
Line two trays with baking paper. Roll out pastry and
cut circles using a small side plate (I sometimes make
smaller ones using my pie maker cutter). Place a circle
of pastry onto baking tray. Brush inside with beaten egg
and place filling on one half, avoiding edges. Fold
other half over and seal by pressing with fork tines.
Prick with a sharp pointed knife or use a fork. Brush
with beaten egg and bake for half an hour.
