So, a definate maybe at this point.
There would be a lot of ifs involved.
Probably too many for the moment.
Isn't there a tagline that sounds sort of like
that? Something about a definite maybe. Along the

I know the gist, but not the actual line.

Could be - depends on the attitude you go in
with - and it helps to have a bunch of pocket
money to spare, because looking at some of
the more tempting food but not buying can be
a letdown. And in any case you have to deal
with the parking, walking, and of course the
sometimes extra interesting smells, which we've
    talked about previously.

Drawing on my tagline file... I found them both... sent the first to
Ruth... and below is the second... ;)

I've not got a to do list, but there could be
    a substantial can do list.
I'm sure you will be sous cheffing quite a bit.
Not hugely important to me what I do, just
so there is company in the kitchen.
Turns out, an open enough kitchen that there was always company.

And you didn't do all that much sous cheffing after all, found your own
dishes to make... :) I'd been tempted to let you sous chef for me, but
then did it myself anyway.... you'd've been much more efficient, no
    doubt... ;)

Sounds like my life the past few weeks. (G) This week is a bit
crazy--quilt retreat today thru Saturday. I only stayed until about 5
today (from 8 am start) because of church but finally (yay!) got THE
quilt done. It's home now, will get one more go-over for stray threads
    before going on the bed.

I was so tired that Steve did supper, basically reheated some chicken
and baked potatoes (sweet and white) for me. Went over to DQ for a small Blizzard after church.

Tiring but got some big projects done. Was working on a smaller one

the issue so put things aside until Steve came to pick me up; he fixed

other night that vanished. Tomorrow night Forest River is putting on a
    big meal for the rally.

Sounds like a good time is being had by all... :)

Over all, yes. The chili was a big hit. Helped that the weather had
cooled off so things like that were appreciated by all. Some people had
muffin or cup cake pans so they could sample a number of soups/chilis
without mixing them together. Have to remember that. (G)

Nice to have them off the queue... a good accomplishment... :)
A big WHEW! Still have to pick odds and ends of thread off our
quilt but that will be done at home, at a time when I don't have
    anything else pressing.
Or just need something relatively mindless to do for a little
    while... :)

That too. Want to be sure all thread tails are clipped or run under,
odd pieces of threads taken off, any other "debris" removed and then it will go on our bed.

    Yup. :)

Very good idea... (I'm reading that as UnFinished Objects..?)
Always good to finish things.... :)
You read that right. Have to make some baby blankets but
otherwise, don't intend to cut out anything more until I've got
    the UFOs done.
    Good plan.... :)
Then I'll have another stack of UFOs to deal with. (G)
Just don't cut out too many all at once... ;)

Enough to put a dent into the pile of fabric set aside for specific
    items.

The earlier level of UFOs... ;)

Will save some of the scraps (depends on size) to cut down for
scrappy quilt pieces. Scrappy quilts and easy do meals--should get a
    fair amount accomplished, time permitting.

Good fall projects... and setting up for winter projects... :)

That's the plan, tho it doesn't always work out.
Guess the good night's sleep wasn't quite enough....? ;)
    Eventually... ;)
Some nights I do better than others. Aches and paines are the
    usual "keep awake" problems.
That'll do it... as will an overactive brain still spinning from
    the day or planning ahead...

There's a lot of that going on as well. Have come up with some of my
VBS craft idas in those times. (G)

Might as well be productive, if you can't sleep... ;) And I've found
that sometimes thinking through things puts me to sleep midstream... ;)

Will continue loading non perishables into the camper the next
few days, then the rest of the stuff.
When do you leave for the camper do....?
    OTR now.
Ah, and that explains why the delay in the messages going
out... :) Hope you are enjoying the rally... :)

They had bbq brisket, pork and chicken, a hash browns casserole, potato
salad, "baked" beans and cole slaw. A tradition for that meal is to
bring in drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) local to your region
for a swap so we brought a 12 pack of Cheerwine. Steve got a soft drink
(forget what it was); I got one called A le 8 1 (A Late One), a
ginger/citrus flavored one. Found a 12 pack of the diet version in town,
it also comes in a cherry flavor but we got the ginger/citrus.

Never ending cycle. Using flannel scrappy pieces for the baby quilt.
That sounds nice... :) and warm.... ;)

Basically, just 2 layers of flannel but it does end up being warm, as
    well as light weight.

A good thing for a baby quilt... :)

Good fall projects... and setting up for winter projects... :)
Depending on how much I'll be able to run the sewing machine.
You should be able to do that sitting down, no....?
Yes, somewhat comfortably, and I can drive the machine with the
    left foot.
That should work... as long as the foot doesn't get too tired...

Even now I'll use either foot to drive the machine. Post knee op will
have to watch how much it's bent for a while.

True... so that might limit things, too... :)

Very true. Got several pounds of beef stew meat the other day.
Some will be stew later this week, the rest will be repackaged
and used over the winter for curry, stew, chili...........
    Sounds yummy... :)

The stew was good, and we've got enough left over to put a couple of
boxes into the freezer for later meals.

    Good going... :)

you've seen it in operation... :)
To be remembered next time there is the need.
Like your next chili cookoff at church... :)
Church furnishes bowls, spoons, etc for that.
Doesn't mean you couldn't come prepared with muffin tins for
your own tasting... and avoid mixing all the samples up... :)

To think about, and try to remember in February.

    Yup. :)

What sort of dinner did Forest River put on for the rally...?
They had bbq brisket, pork and chicken, a hash browns casserole,
potato salad, "baked" beans and cole slaw.
    A nice spread.... :)
Very good. We took some of the various meats home; they're in the
    freezer for quick meals now.
Now that's a nice bonus... :) I take it they were looking for
    volunteers to take the leftovers....?

Yes, we didn't bother with any of the sides tho.

You'd just as soon do up your own sides when the time comes... :)

A tradition for that meal is to bring in drinks (both alcoholic
and non alcoholic) local to your region for a swap so we brought
a 12 pack of Cheerwine. Steve got a soft drink (forget what it
    was); I got one called A le 8 1 (A Late One), a ginger/citrus
flavored one. Found a 12 pack of the diet version in town, it
also comes in a cherry flavor but we got the ginger/citrus.
That sounds tasty... :) Is it at all available at your local
    stores...?

    Hi Nancy,

still hurts. Could be partly due to the damp weather we had
    today.
Yeah, the damp probably didn't make things better...

Going to be like that until Thursday of this week. I braced the knee
while we were out for Veteran's Day activities.

    Good going...

Doing it more and more now; it feels like I can spend less and less time
on my feet without the brace. I'll see the doctor again on the 28th and
I'm thinking we'll start seriously discussing dates.

Only 5 months since it started acting up, maybe could have had the replacement by now, but............... Hopefully the rest of the wait won't be as long.

As part of the original damage, I tore the meniscus. This time it's
intact but I don't want to risk damaging it further. Hope she recovers
fast; it should be arthroscopic surgery and she will be back on her feet
soon. There will be recovery/therapy but not as much as if she were
    getting a replacement.

still hurts. Could be partly due to the damp weather we had
    today.
Yeah, the damp probably didn't make things better...
Going to be like that until Thursday of this week. I braced
the knee while we were out for Veteran's Day activities.
    Good going...

Doing it more and more now; it feels like I can spend less and less
time on my feet without the brace. I'll see the doctor again on the
28th and I'm thinking we'll start seriously discussing dates.

Sounds probable to me, too... Have you started using the heavier brace
for the longer times on your feet, yet...? Maybe that would give more support....?

Only 5 months since it started acting up, maybe could have had
the replacement by now, but............ Hopefully the rest of
the wait won't be as long.
My friend Donna (she came with me to the Boston clam crawl 2009)
tore the miniscus in her knee last spring... after waits to get
in to see the specialist, to get an MRI (had to do PT first),
and for the doctor for the results, she is finally scheduled to
have surgery Dec 3rd. She knew she'd damaged it, but didn't
find out until now finally that the miniscus tore....

As part of the original damage, I tore the meniscus. This time it's
intact but I don't want to risk damaging it further. Hope she recovers fast; it should be arthroscopic surgery and she will be back on her
feet soon. There will be recovery/therapy but not as much as if she
    were getting a replacement.

That is the hope... :) Her hip has started giving her grief
recently... she's hoping that that will settle down again once the knee
    is fixed... :)

We actually ended up eating it all--2 supper meals each plus
lunch for both of us one day. Saved me from having to be on my
    feet longer, cooking.
Also a very good use of the overage... ;)
Tasted good, while it lasted. (G)
    Good. :)
Also made meal making easy for a bit. (G)
    Indeed... :)

Sometimes it's easiest to take the cook/put left overs in the fridge
for easy do meals in the next few days route.

Yup, do it once, and plan for more meals out of it... :)

Yes, we didn't bother with any of the sides tho.
You'd just as soon do up your own sides when the time comes...
As usual, yes. Had the chicken with the last bit of the grilled
chicken the other night. Steamed some kale and had orzo with it
    also.
    A nice meal... :)
Yes, I may thaw the brisket to go with home made cole slaw later
this week. Don't know, may thaw the pork then too.
Let their chefs do your cooking for a few more meals... ;)
We used up the rest of the meat over the week end. Had to cook
for LG so the pre done meat made a quick lunch (brisket sandwich)
one day, supper (pork, with sides) another time.
That worked out quite well.... :)

Definately! I had to concentrate on the meal for LG so wanted
something easy do for us. That fit the bill. (G)

    Indeed. :)

Steve spotted a fridge on sale at Lowe's on Monday--we'd thought about
getting a new one, then thought we'd hold off. The sale, combined with
his military discount, made it reasonable enough to buy, so he took me

Well, at least you're getting wiser about it... mostly... ;)
Overall, yes. Strapping it on for shopping trips now, but not on
    Sundays.
    You are learning... :)
Steve spotted a fridge on sale at Lowe's on Monday--we'd thought
about getting a new one, then thought we'd hold off. The sale,
combined with his military discount, made it reasonable enough to
buy, so he took me over to look at it. Spent about an hour on my
feet, unbraced knee, but came home and put it up for most of the
    rest of the evening.
Hopefully you survived it ok, then... ;)

Yes, and a couple more like it this week. It's the time of year more
short "I forgot/need this.........." trips are made. (G)

You should get in the habit of bracing the knee before going out... just
in case you end up standing longer than you expect... :)

New fridge will be delivered December 10. (G)
A nice early Christmas present... :) Nice that the finances
worked out nicely for the purchase, too... :)

    Very much so!

And now you'll have a bigger fridge for when you host a picnic, whenever
    that might be... :)

Good thing that her husband likes to cook. He can do all the
"on your feet" type work, let her stay seated and give
instructions, if needed. Does he cook pretty much the same way
she does or does he like to branch out into different areas?
Steve is getting into more baking, especially things that can
    use sourdough as a base.
He does a wide range of cooking, including gourmet things... She
does more baking, I think.... but also a variety of regular and
gourmet cooking... I'm thinking that their styles are different,
but either is capable of doing all the cooking... :)
Sounds like a good team there. Steve will probably be doing most of
the cooking for at least the first week or so when my knee is done.
He can do a lot but by having a number of ready to heat/eat meals
on hand, it will be less stressful for him. He might have to fix a
side but if there are fresh veggies on hand, that's no problem.
Might your church supply a few meals as well...?

Probably so, if we make a request.

Ours does, pretty much as a matter of course... they do check to make
sure it would indeed be helpful, first, but generally they expect do it
for at least a couple days... :)

We'll discuss it with the preaching pastor's wife; she organises
things like that. Will have a better feel for what's needed
after we talk to the doctor but I'm sure he would encourage
something like that. Also other people (from other organisations
we're in) have offered help. No Fu's in the area tho.
So you can't have friends bring you in take-out from Fu's... :)
Maybe from some other favored place, though....? :) It would
be a good idea to take people up on their offers to help... :)

We probably will. Did talk to one couple who signed up after they had
a new baby. Said that they got a lot of take out pizza so were glad for what I sent (forget what it was).

    How unimaginative... ;)

Some days are like that, others, you have all the time you need
    to cook, eat, clean up.................
And no rush at all.... :) And if it takes forever, there's not
    much harm done... (G)
Some days are like that, especially when you get several inches of
    snow. (G)
    Exactly... :)

    Which is all melted now.

Yup... wouldn't expect yours to stick around very long....

And then you'll add bread and salad to fill out the meal...?
Bread yes, salad TBD what will be done.
Made any decisions on that yet...? :)
We got a couple of bags of a salad mix (forgot what type) but
the package has everything--greens, dressing, etc in it. Just
    combine and eat.
    That's simple enough... :)
Yes, and now we're eating off of that also. (G)
    How providential... :)

Quite so, actually. Found we didn't like that salad mix as much as we
like some of the other ones. OK, but not great.

    Hi Nancy,

No, it's damaged enough. Don't know, short of a major hit, what
could mess it up more tho.
Too much of the little stuff might be just as bad... cumulative
    damage...

True, over the years of on my feet doing this and that, it all adds
    up.

    Exactly my point... :)

Same as a little bit of overeating will add up the pounds over time. (G)

And now you'll have a bigger fridge for when you host a
picnic, NB>>>> whenever that might be... :)
We'd like to do it next year but will see how things play out
    over the next few months.
    Lots going on still... :)
Very much so, but we'll have the new fridge. (G)
Yup, and now you do... :)

Fridge part is somewhat settled as to what will go where, freezer will need more work when we get home. I can do that while sitting tho.

That's good... and you can do a bit of an inventory of that freezer
    while you sort... :)

As long as I can sit down while doing it and have somewhere to put the
stuff I take out. A low table would be nice.

Possibly so, but would like to get back to one seafood place about 50
miles up the interstate. Between heavy rain and not getting away from FL

Truck drivers want good pizza, too.. (G)
We were nicely surprised at how good it was compared to what we
usually see as take out pizza.
Maybe there's a real cook in the kitchen at that truck stop...
Seemed so--they had a limited buffet of real food out (like meat
loaf & gravy, fried chicken, don't recall sides) as well. A very
filling meal could be had for a small price.
A good place to keep in mind for other trips, then... :)

Possibly so, but would like to get back to one seafood place about 50 miles up the interstate. Between heavy rain and not getting away from
FL as early as we'd hoped, we weren't quite as far along at supper time
as we'd hoped--but the pizza made for a good supper.

You do have a few choices along that route, then... :)

    Hi Nancy,

And with the freezer(s) sorted and cleared out, you'll have a
better idea of what is needed to fill in, and whether it'll
    fit... ;)

Hopefully we can get to that in the next few days. Quilting retreat
next week will take 3 days out of the "normal" schedule.

Ah, so that's coming up now... :) Have you managed to accomplish the freezer job yet....?

No, I can't stay on my feet that long and Steve's thumb is giving him a
lot of trouble. We'll probably just dig as we need something, work
around a meat with what's avaialble for sides for the initial recovery
    phase.

In spots, yes. Other places are rather bereft of places to even get off
the interstate. A lot of tidal marshes and such like along some parts of
    I-95, no exits along them.

Hinesville is the town outside of Fort Stewart. While we were stationed

We generally don't unhitch when we stop for the night unless we're at a campground. If we go out for supper, we find a place that's within

probably stop for supper and then move on to find a place to park for
    the night.

Other than that, we didn't go to Hinesville for eating out as
there were so many good places in Savannah--hardly scratched the
surface of the number of places there.
That's the downside of having lots of choices.... just can't try
    them all... (G)

No, but we did try some really good places. Didn't get to go back to
some of them while we were there but may, in the future.

Something to keep in mind anyway for possibilities... :)

Yes, as long as we're in WF and Steve's parents are in FL, we will be
going thru the Savannah area at least twice a year. Might try some new
to us places to eat, if they're not too far off the interstate.

We'll wait for a non rainy day. Had a spell of 9 days straight of
rain, then it cleared up for a couple of days. Now back to off and
on rain with the slight possibility of snow flurries next week.
    Still winter, after all... ;)

Yes, and now the possibility of snow seems to be gone but it will
still be quite cold next week. Getting January weather in March.

Yes... we have been, too... today was the first in almost a week where
the high temps moved out of the teens into the high 20's (and the
windchills from below 0 to a balmy 10 degrees)...

store had just opened up beside it. Spent some time and money in
    there too. (G)
No question about where you stopped for supper... (G) Guess
they were doing well enough that the foods store was a
possibility... and now that it's established, it should help
them stay afloat over all, too... :)
Yes, and make for a good stopping point for us. But, Steve's
parents are going to be moving into assisted living so we will be
taking the camper on future trips south. IIRC, there isn't a good
place to park the camper and truck in front of the restaurant,
hopefully might find a spot near by.
There might be a large enough parking lot not too far away....

Possibly so; it is in town.

    Worth looking for, anyway.... :)

or a place to park the camper and unhitch the truck.... if you
    stayed the night, especially.... :)

Most likely we would be there after a lot of the businesses in the area
closed for the night (Hinesville is the county seat, restaurant seemed
to be not too far from the courthouse, etc.) so parking would probably
be relatively easy to find if we didn't mind a bit of a walk. Not at
this point tho, I'm not going to do a lot of walking after dark in an unfamiliar area.

Yes, like the bbq places we've found in SC. Both were good, never would
have known about them if we were still in Savannah but nice to know for
    future trips thru the area.

So now, today, it actually reached 70 degrees, so I'm told... I saw it
