You weren't raised with it. Pumpernickel bagels, toasted with
cream cheese, are wonderful things if you like pumpernickel
    and can eat cream cheese.
Sounds good to me... :) I was raised with it, too... Daddy bought
all kinds of flavors of breads, including pumpernickle... I remember
a "chant" we often did in the car on a Sunday morning driving to
some country church where Daddy was going to fill their pulpit for
the day (a loaf of bread, usually raisin, but sometimes pumpernickel
being breakfast for the family in the car)... "Jane Parker
Pumpernickel bread, No Fat Attic" (the last bit being some child's mispronounce of "Added" which got picked up on for the chant)...

Was that an "Anne Page" brand? :-)

An A&P brand, yes.... Or as Daddy refered to the store, Apple and
    Poofle... ;)

back with us. I didn't have any of it.
    All the more for them.
Exactly... I don't remember if it all was eaten or not... it
seemed to be about the right amount....

    It does tend to vanish.

It did go well with Dale's pastrami... :)

shopping together... and go to the public market together,
    too....
Sounds like fun, at least sometimes.
It was... usually... :) We get along well... :) Richard and I do
the shopping together, now... He does the heavy lifting I'm not
    supposed to and/or can't do...

Oh, you brought the muscle with you. Or at least the eye candy.

    Pretty much both... ;)

something, and I'm going to be paying for it for the next
    month.
Ouch. Sometimes there's no avoiding overdoing... but that
should remind you to be careful for a while.... ;) Nice that
you scored at the store, though... ;)
The worst of it is I'm not even really sure what I did, other
than climb straight up a flight of stairs.
That's a bit scary.... As I said in the other message, I'm glad you
    are healing...

So just consider this part of your beefing up your immune system...?
You do have a point there... works for the flu, too... When there was
all that hullabaloo about the bird flu a few years back, my friend, born
in 1916, didn't need to get the shot since she'd been exposed to the
1917 flu.... And I figure all the flu shots I've been given over the
years will have given immunities to quite a few strains, both present
    and future.... :)

If you had the 1917 flu, the new one couldn't bite you. That worked
for old folks during the Spanish Flu outbreak too. My one cousin
just started teaching, and she's picking up all sorts of bugs from
the kids. That happens until you acquire immunity to some of the
