of the major sites without calling for a pullover. Did
That era is a lot more fascinating to me. The politics of it are still
on going here in NC tho; over issues and battles long fought.
I contend that the south won that war.
My southern-born (MS), southern-living (VA/TN) brother (Rob) would agree with you there... ;) (He might, although it's unlikely still, show up
for some part of this year's picnic, depending on how his schedule falls into or out of place... [g])
When I read this, I thought "I'll believe it
    when I see it."

I was in a similar state of not-quite belief myself... it would have
been nice had it worked out, but there was only a slim chance anyway...
it was a possible chance for us to do some estate work over the weekend,
but I reminded him that I wouldn't be really available until Monday....

Mom bought margerine for years, usually the A&P or Victory store brand. She made the switch to butter after all of us left home, after trying to change when she first started working. At that time we were young enough that our taste buds wanted something familiar so she went back to margerine. Don't recall how many of us kids preferred it to butter, but with 5 kids, she deferred to the taste buds of the majority.
There were many reasons for choosing margarine.
Most of them were bad reasons.
Indeed. My parents also used margarine while we were growing up... I'm pretty sure it was purely because what Daddy was getting was less
expensive than butter... It was yet another of their cost-cuttings that
I never was able to accustom my tastebuds to.... :)
Some kinds of margarine have their place - for
example, I used to use corn oil margarine on corn
on the cob. If it were necessary to economize, for
me butter and oil mixed would be a better solution
    than margarine in most uses.

    I never found a margarine I could tolerate, taste-wise, until I was
staying with my aunt and uncle in Annapolis once... they'd become lactose-intolerant, and had stopped getting butter... They had an all
canola oil margarine called Canoleo, which actually tasted like food
instead of auto grease... I actually bought it for myself for a while,
and was getting it for MJ who couldn't do butter... Now I just get the
LOL or Wegmans Butter with canola oil mixed in...

weren't any more messages... genealogy just tends to be more specific than most other topics, when you come down to it...
Yep, and luckily people have to eat every day.
    True... :)
One thing that keeps us going besides our stubbornness
is the universality of the subject matter.

    Indeed. :)

If there were any newbies who would wish to be
taught here rather than on the all-knowing Internet.
Seems I've seen a few... they don't stay long, they probably aren't rank newbies, but there have been some... :)
I don't see the hook to bring real newcomers
in - perhaps folks who had been on the (or an)
echo once, but total new blood, not so likely.

Well, Edith is working on getting into the echo... she did manage to get herself on as a user on Tiny's, but I've not seen any evidence she's
even tried reading messages online yet... Maybe after I get back from
the wedding this weekend I'll see if I can help her get things going...
She really did enjoy herself at the Picnic... :)

And her message did finally get out into the bbs world, to be responded
to by just about everyone... ;) We're still having some technical
difficulties getting her truly up and running... while it seems easy
and straightforward to us who are used to the concept of bbsing, there's
a lot of magic spells she doesn't have yet... ;)

Yesterday, we sat down with her and her computer at our church, and I
thought we actually did connect with the Magicka BBS on the webside, as
we were looking at a listing of messages from the Cooking echo (and
she'd had to enter her name and password to get there)... yet, when I
logged on later in my usual bbs run, she didn't show up in the last 10
callers list at all... Which side is djatropine coming in on...? I see
that one all the time.... She'd downloaded Syncterm from your site, and Richard was helping her with trying to do telnet to the Ezy side, they
kept getting disconnected before she'd finished the new user
questionnaire, but eventually managed to finish it (although with her
name misspelled)... I did see that one in Today's Callers last night...

Ok, that's what I was beginning to guess... that the web login aren't on
that list of last 10 callers... Is there a separate last 10 callers
list for the webside of things, then...? Maybe it's something to
    mention to Andrew...?

Guess you weren't able to... In the meantime, we had another learning
session, this time at her house, and following that, she did logon a few
times with the misspelled name to see and reply to at least a couple of
the messages that had been sent to her..... she's making progress.. ;)
