There was a feeling of family there, too, so there were some messages that were more personal than genealogical from time to time...Which... the teaching newbies....? or the allowing personal touches

I'm not so certain about purposes but do admit that
both breadth and depth of our knowledge is insufficient
to make any definitive statement on that.
