From that info it would seem that eating them raw
might be a good idea
Except for the fast that they are totally gross raw.
I don't recall having tried them raw more than
once - my impression was negative enough for me
not to do it again, but then there's a substantial
body of crackpot literature that makes me want to
investigate.
but then there are those solanine alkaloids to worry about
Not to mention indigestible resistant starches and the possibility
of e-coli from the dirt they're grown in.
Resistant starches are not a big deal, are they?
Lots of foods have plenty, including beans and
nuts - pretty much anything that makes ordinary
people fart. E. coli I don't believe, unless
you eat unwashed peels from potatoes that have
been grown in fecally contaminated soil.
Raw potato salad

From The Hallelujah Diet
Malkmus is a quack, a total fraud, and a slimy con artist making
money off the gullible with his fake cures.
There are so many such, may they rot in
their special hell.
Title: Scurvy Cure
One might substitute grapefruit juice for the lime
and call it a "Scurvy dog."
Another grapefruit cocktail ...
Title: Campari Paloma
Seems a little gilding the lily. Why
not add a splash of Campari to a regular
Paloma cocktail? Or: 1 1/2 oz each tequila
and grapefruit juice, rocks, fill with
Fresca, bleed with Campari.
Pompelmo
categories: booze
yield: 2 bottles
5 lg ruby red grapefruit
1 bottle (750mL) Everclear
3 c sugar
3 c water
Peel the zest from grapefruits Remove pith.
Combine zest and Everclear in a large
sealable container. Let steep for 30 to 40 days
in a cool, dry place.
Make simple syrup by dissolving sugar in
boiling water.
Strain grapefruit infusion into a clean
container using a funnel and coffee filter.
Add cooled simple syrup to taste. Store in
freezer, and enjoy.
Tips
Straining through a coffee filter is a useful but
patient process. Cheesecloth is always a faster
alternative, but coffee filtration will give you
the desired clarity in one pass. Changing to a
fresh filter can help speed up the process as
well if it˙s slowed.
While organic ruby red grapefruits are preferred,
try your hand at other types or whatever is
available. You may find that there˙s another
variety you prefer.
Feel free to play around with not only the infusion
to syrup ratio, but also the ratio of sugar to water
in the syrup itself. If you like sweet and strong,
you might want to add more sugar into the syrup and
use it in lower quantity with the infusion.
