• 943 Costco + Kit Kats

From MICHAEL LOO@1:123/140 to NANCY BACKUS on Friday, June 29, 2018 10:41:20
Good! A fun expedition quite different from most
of the echo ones in the past, and there should be
enough members, as you say, to get people in. Even
better, a lot of the food courts are outside, and
    anyone can go.
Can one do takeout from the food courts...? and be able to do a
side-by-side comparison of the two, back at the house...?

Suppose - we could have one designated [s]sucker[/s]
representative member to buy a pack of frozen ones
and a few from the food court. Take them to a kitchen
    and feast on yumminesses untold.

For sure a subject for investigation.
    Interesting possibility... :)
That would involve eating the food court
ones and having me or someone buy a batch
to take home and test out.
See above.... :) I know that Shipps and Hafflys have Costco
    memberships....

    Should be ample.

So there was a memorial dinner for Nicholas at
No. 9 Park with a menu dictated by him before
his death. It featured kidneys (his main complaint
was renal failure). I wasn't invited, whether by
his direction (what did I do?) or by Lee's faulty
    execution I don't know.
Just from what you've said in the echo, I'd guess more likely the latter....
I'm imagining so, The sour grapesy thing
would be "kidneys are not that great, anyway
    [sniff]."
Except that you do like them.... ;)

Nothing to say that the fox in the fable didn't
    like grapes!

... Bread can lead to harder stuff like baguettes and croissants?
If your croissants are hard, there's something
    wrong there.
I think that was meant to be figurative, not literal... ;)

Irony does cut both ways, you know, something
that not everyone has ever understood.

The longer the risk is taken, the bigger the
chance of problem. Not to mention that whatever
is holding the things up is going to get more
and more fatigued, further increasing the risk.
True.... which is why I did take Soto's advice and just left the car in
the driveway until the part came in... no... actually I think I left it
there at the garage for that one... and let Richard take me places in
    his car... :)

    Works. Easier, too.

There's just this little pang; and, as I said
before, what if there's a major disaster that
befalls him or is caused by him. Bonnie said
there are a few positive signs, but his level
of self-loathing is such that nothing is safe,
    mostly not him.
He could surprise you for the good.... from what you said, my brother
and he had a good conversation... :)

I hope so but am not confident I'll live to see that.
    If it happens.

    Chicken tarragon
categories: main, mine, Chinese, poultry, easy, possibly Frenchish
    servings: 2

    1 lg chicken breast
    flour, opt
    chicken fat
    2 oz mushrooms, sliced
    1 sm onion, minced
    1 garlic clove, minced
    1/2 c chicken stock
    1/2 c amontillado
    1 Tb dried tarragon
    s, p

Cut the chicken into 4 medallions and pound
them lightly. Dredge in flour if desired.

Heat fat in a medium skillet over medium to
high heat. Saute mushrooms until browned on
the outslde and just done inside. Remove with
a slotted spoon and set aside.

In the same fat, adding more as needed, brown
the onion, adding the garlic partway.

Meanwhile, in another skillet, brown the chicken
on both sides over medium-high heat. Remove to a
    warm place.

Deglaze both skillets with stock and wine.

Combine liquids in one of the skillets; add the
tarragon, and heat to high, reducing as necessary.
Add the chicken and any accumulated juices and
turn to coat. Add the mushrooms and onion and
heat through. Correct seasoning and serve.

That sounds like it might/should work... :)

Just not sour ones... ;) maybe the sour grapesy version would be more
like "they probably ruined the kidneys, anyway"... ;)

I'd put stock in Bonnie's assessment... and in the fact that he warmed
to my brother... maybe as he keeps this job, the self-loathing will at
    least be lessened....
