Quoting Bill Swisher to Michael Loo <=-

I couldn't make any soapy water to check for gas leaks

What's the chance of a substantial and dangerous leak

    Not much.

Long ago I worked for a gasfitter for a while. He used to test
    connections with a cigarette lighter!

    ---------- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: Corned Beef Barbecue - Gas Grill
    Categories: Beef, BBQ, Grill, Sauces
    Yield: 6 Servings

    3 lb Corned beef brisket
    6 md Baking potatoes
1 Dry onion soup mix envelope
    1/2 c Butter, softened
    1/2 c Sugar
    1/4 c Vinegar
    5 tb Prepared mustard
    1 c Sour cream
    1/4 c Milk

Pre-heat both sides of gas grill on HIGH for 10 minutes. Turn burners
to medium. Rinse corned beef; place in foil baking pan on cooking
grids. Close hood and cook for 1 1/2 hours.

Scrub potatoes but do not peel; cut each potato into 3 or 4
length-wise slices. Set aside 3 tb of soup mix; blend together
remaining mix and butter. Spread mixture on potato slices and
re-assemble; wrap each potato in heavy foil; place on grill with
corned beef. Cover hood and grill 45 to 60 minutes longer, turning
    potatoes once.

In saucepan mix sugar, vinegar, 3 tb mustard and dash of salt. Bring
to boiling; stir until sugar dissolves. Brush over corned beef last
    few minutes of grilling.

Mix sour cream, milk, reserved soup mix and remaining mustard. Heat,
    stirring occasionally, but do not boil. Slice meat across grain;
serve with potatoes and sour cream sauce.

Henry's notes: This brisket is so easy and delicious. My gas
grill must cook faster than the authors. In an hour and a half,
the brisket was done. I covered the brisket with the basting sauce
and set it aside while I cooked the potatoes on the grill. The
last few minutes, I put the meat back on the grill. The
combination of the corned beef with the sweetness of the basting
sauce is superb. I did not think too much of the potatoes, they
were rather bland. The sauce was good with the meat, but the meat
did not need it. Next time, I will leave out the dipping sauce and
do the potatoes differently. We served dinner with home made sour
dough bread and marinated grilled portobello mushrooms. HK
