I wonder what happens when someone in the legal
department approaches the magic 65.
Interesting question... At Kodak, it was the magic 85... age plus years
of service... Richard had 29 1/2 years of service, and was just under 55 or so when he was laid off...
Not the nicest thing in the world - similar
to what happened to Bodle a couple decades ago.
In Bodle's case, he was told that he satisfied the conditions for
retirement pay -- but after he left service, his retirement was denied claiming that some six months of service did not count.
I wasn't clear on what happened, or why
some effective lawyer (I first wrote good,
but that might not be the right word for
lawyers in general) didn't get on the case
and badger the government until it caved.
In either case -- it sucks completely.
Seems that meanness is pretty common and
becoming commoner.
I guess people don't "do unto others as
you would have them do unto you" these days.

Title: Rice with Pesto Sauce
Categories: Grains
Yield: 2 servings
150 g Long-grain rice; washed
1 Tb Sunflower oil
3 Tb Pesto sauce
Salt and pepper
Grated Gruyere
Serves 2-3
Quick, cheap and easy - this recipe fits all those bills! It is
deceptively good, too, for all its simplicity. Serve it with a tossed
salad and some warm granary rolls.
Put the rice into a large saucepan of boiling salted water, add the oil
(to prevent it sticking) and simmer for about 8-10 min, until well
cooked. Drain and pile into a serving-dish. Spoon the pesto sauce over
the top, stir in well and season to taste. Serve with a bowl of finely
grated Gruyere to sprinkle over it.
