Not that we can't cook for ourselves. Lydia is
the one I thought was cute, right?
Probably... she's the only one of my sisters that goes to the same
church as I do... :) She does like to cook and bake, so if she's
offering, it's probably because she'd like to do something... :) Also,
she's seeing this as somewhat of a training for her eventual plans to
    become an AirBnB....

All cool. It'll be nice to see her again.

That may well take care of our needs.
I thought it might... especially as Hafflys plan to have their camper
there as well, as I said...

I'm hoping that a couple maybes turn into
yeses, and then I'll burn a few hotel points.

themselves... There's also a couple of couches.... ;)
Excellent - I often sleep on couches,
sometimes in my clothes, and would be
more than happy to do so if there is a
    dearth of pets.
There is only one rather ancient cat... reasonably well-behaved now that
    he is in his dotage....

Remember too that cats become less well-behaved
when they're in their extreme dotage.

Although I admit young academic types tend to be
skinny. But the word was that this mountain lion
    was malnourished as well.
So maybe some extenuating circumstances there... ;)
    That's why I don't immediately condemn
    criminals, especially the nonviolent
thieving ones - they may well be starving or
    desperate to feed their families.
Depending on what is being stolen, that might be... I have less sympathy
for those who are feeding their drug habit....

There is a point when you have to forget that
the drug habit is self-inflicted (and in a lot
    of cases, it's not).

Played second in Op. 74 and first in I think
one of the Mozarts, which was as easy as
falling off a log. Then the first movement
of the Sunrise, but it was someone else who
    pooped out, not me.
Then you didn't do too badly.... the first and third being Haydn, perhaps...?
The first being Beethoven - if one doesn't
specify a number, it's Beethoven; Op. 74 of
Haydn are qualified as nos. 1 to 3.
Not being a string player, I'm less familiar with that sort of designation.... :) Was this just a chance to play thru the music
together, or was it intended for some concert...?

Not much chance of a performance: the guys on
the west coast, though, might be looking at
such, even if they're less eminent.

I'm within half a mile of Beethoven's birthplace
as I write this, where Lilli got drunk on
insufficient provocation being right around the
    corner from it.

    Sour Roast (Sauerbraten)
    categories: Westphalian, German, main, horse
    servings: 4

1 kg horsemeat roast (sub roastbeef)
50 g bacon in strips (optional)
    250 ml red wine vinegar
soup vegetables (carrot, celery, leek (optional)
    parsley root (optional), onion (optional))
    1 garlic clove
    2 bay leaves
    1 ts juniper berries
    3 allspice corns and/or cloves
    3 pepper corns
    1 thyme branch
    1/2 l red wine
    4 Tb pork lard
    1 Tb flour (optional)
    50 g raisins
    salt
    pepper
    beet syrup (sub maple syrup)

Possibly lard the roast with the bacon. Clean
and wash the vegetables and cut them into
pieaces. Bring the vinegar to boil with some
water or stock, then let it cool down a bit
and add the meat, the spices and the vegetables.
Let it marinade in a closed bowl for several
days (but as least 24h) at a cool place.

Take the meat out and roast it in the lard.
Little by little add the marinade together
with the vegetables and the spices. Braise it
in the oven for 2h to 2h30 at 200C/400F. Then
take the bay leaves, the cloves and the juniper
berries out of the gravy. Strain the gravy, and
perhaps thicken it with some flour. Add the
raisins and season it with salt, pepper and
    sugar beet syrup.

What I have is Shipps, Hafflys, you and me as yeses, and possibles as
Sean, Shawn and xxCarol... Do you have any other maybes...? Fords being
local, so probably not needing lodging...

Throgmorton (aka Throggy) pretty much keeps to himself, spends time in
the other half of the house with Bonnie and/or outside... and seems to
have rediscovered the litterbox... ;) Also seems to listen better than
    in his youth...

Ah... so this was east coast, and playing for the fun of playing
together, then.... (or were you already in Europe...?)

How sad... so close and yet so far... That was on the possibly stronger
than normal red wine you referred to in another message...?

    ttyl neb

... Fate just isn't what it used to be.
