From JIM WELLER@1:123/140 to CAROL SHENKENBERGER on Saturday, June 09, 2018 21:24:00

Quoting Carol Shenkenberger to Jim Weller <=-

Neekha hasn't really settled down yet in either further
academic studies or a career type job but is dabbling in a lot
    of things.

LOL, shes young yet and still settling in.

She only 19; I'm not concerned.

    Charlotte is as well.

And you shouldn't be either. I was 25 before I had even had a clue
    about such things.

Raine and her two girls, Lexi and Charlee, are back in Fort McMurray
in a brand new modular home on the same lot where the old one burned

I've never lost a home in that way.

They had a hell of a battle with both the insurance company and the
bank. Older mobile homes can only be insured for cash value and not
full replacement value. She bought the home for $275,000 during the
last oil boom when the lot was appraised for $280,000 so the trailer
really had no residual value. The insurance company set the cash
value at $64,000 and she paid premiums for that much coverage. When
it burned down they didn't want to pay out $64,000 saying that the
home was now worth less than that because it was even older and the
market had gone down after the oil boom ended. Her argument was
that neither she nor they had ever reduced the coverage or the
premiums. There were thousands of people similarly affected and
eventually the media shamed them and the government forced them to
pay out in full but it took year.

A new mobile home was going to cost a little over $100,000 but the
bank wouldn't increase her mortgage by the missing $36,000 because
the lot was now worth just $150,000 in the changed market place and
she still owed close to $250,000. Eventually they caved in under
pressure but that too took months of negotiating and threats of
class actions law suits. Eventually the government of Canada through
the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (our version of Fannie
Mae) told all the lenders to give all their clients as much as they
needed and stop talking about minimum equity requirements.

Since we have been talking about fusion food here is another recent
experiment that worked: curried cream of cauliflower soup with
    Moroccan spicing.

I didn't have galangal so I doubled the ginger and I didn't have
long pepper, cubeb or grains of paradise so I just used a lot of
black pepper. To turn ras el hanout into something much like curry
    powder just add turmeric.
