I've been known - not often - to binge eat. A half pound
slab of halvah, a whole roast chicken, a full-size bag of
chips or pistachios (the only nut). It could be worse -
I could binge drink; now that would be problematic.
Would there have been any corelationship between that and visiting the
house in Montgomery county for a couple of days?
Now that's cruel - but in fact true. I'd drink on the
plane down, often stop for a pop or two at Chadwick's
or Clyde's in Friendship Heights before taking the last
T2 bus toward the house, and often reverse the process
at the end of the visit a couple days later. That was
if I didn't have time to visit Columbia.
Title: THREE-PEPPER MEATLOAF - COUNTRY COOKING
Looks standard but for the clever checkerboard top
(how many checkerboards have you seen with three
colors?), probably nicer than the usual squirt of
ketchup (I originally typed ketchum - Ketchup the
Menace?). Otherwise, I'd replace part or all of the
oats (which I admit I have been known to put in
such dishes) with dry breadcrumbs.
You could also substitute pinto beans for borlotti.
Baked beans
categories: Texas, side, pork, celebrity, vegetable
servings: 4 [M says 20]
1 lb dried pinto beans
8 oz bacon ends
2 Tb chili powder
Kosher salt
In a heavy stockpot, combine the beans, bacon ends,
and 4 c cold water. Bring the water to a boil, then
reduce the flame to low and cook until the beans are
tender, about 5 hr, adding water if needed so the
beans don't dry out. Add the chili powder and season
with salt.
