Since the net is evolving and this old hardware that's insecure (http) I thought this forum might be easier to access with modern web browsers and support full https encryption. Just a thought as i set it up for politics mainly, bet set up a Fidonet conference with a single forum for now.
It's a good idea to plan for the future. For now, I hope
this echo chugs along for a while, perhaps as long as I do
    (I'm guessing 5 years, 10 very optimistic). Security doesn't
seem to be a big concern so far, but I could be proven wrong.
We'll all be grateful if the need arises and you can help.
Agreed... security seems adequate at this point especially for what we
    are...

One of the joys of flying under the radar - and of being
wee fushies in a small pond.

Stuff I myself don't need, but others may see value.
No need for those in those for me, either....

I won't grow up, I don't wanna view images, videos, and
tweets. Another beauty of this place is how it's
    uncluttered, relatively speaking.

The members should weigh in as they see fit.
Most important email notofication of replies to your posts. And it's
seo and open graph correct to get indexed into search.
    I don't understand all that.
Those, I think, are connected to smartphone use and the like.... nothing
I'd be using, or really understand any of it. either...

Ah, smartphones. I had to access my government account
the other day, and there's this multistep identification
process involving a smartphone, and last time I logged
in I used Lilli's phone, which doesn't help me 2600
miles away, and it was slightly irritating to have to
go to a secondary and more lengthy kind of verification.

... Twisted mind? No...just bent in several strategic places.

Back in the '80s I was alone in a house in northern New
Hampshire, where the only entertainments were a large
library of Reader's Digest Condensed Books and a then
state-of-the-art 20-odd inch TV, so I turned on a late-
night movie called Twisted Mind, where some kid gets
bullied by the popular kids and as a result turns a la
Nutty Professor into a clawed monster who proceeds to
eviscerate the football stars and cheerleaders who had
taunted him. and here I was saying, you go, fella, and
hoping he gets away with it, but of course he gets his in
the end, with a preachy little trailer at the end that I
zoned out on. The movie was so old and so obscure that
when I looked it up on IMDb there was no trace of it.

    Bermuda Highball
    cat: booze
    servings: 1

    3/4 oz gin
    3/4 oz brandy
    3/4 oz dry vermouth

Fill with ginger ale or club soda; serve in highball
    glass with a lemon twist.

Smartphone use is considered normal and expected nowadays... Richard's
run into that, where they want to use a smartphone for multistep identification, and neither of us has one, he doesn't even have a simple
    cell phone....

Probably just as well... The taunters deserved what they got... whether
or not the kid also deserved to get his in the end...
