It's better than the competition, except for Popeye's
(though the Shipps note that their new Popeye's is up
and down, so perhaps the formerly commendable consistency
is a thing of the past)), and cheaper to boot.
We were near the Capital Blvd Popeye's today but it was an odd time for
a meal so didn't bother going in.

For Popeye's I've been known to make an unscheduled meal
stop, because in my part of the world they are few and far
between and inaccessible to the carfree. I'm not sure if
it's better to go in at off-times, when the product is
likely not to be as hot and fresh, or toward the end of
lunchtime, when they're still churning out large quantities
    but there's still a line.

Stars is a stretchable concept. One or two stars from
Fodor's or Michelin, that's cause for celebration; on
most of the Internet these days that would be the kiss
    of death.
So many people still think that star ratings are the end all and be all
for ratings--guess we'll have to wait several generations until that
    idea dies out.

I doubt that it will. The dumber ideas often persist
longer than decent ones, though one hopes that the most
important truths stay around in various forms.

fancy resprt in I believe Dubai or Abu Dhabi claims 7 stars.
It's all pretty bogus, if you ask me.
    Sounds rather excessive, IMO.

As one hotel official pointed out, it's like giving something
    112 points on a 100-point scale.

study, and some of the roles morph into professions of
their own. Q.V. hospital and university administrators.
Going round and round in circles then.
The falcon cannot hear the falconer, more like.
    Quite possible.

As things do get out of hand.

Probably so. OTOH, you'll have people that see it and try to figure
out > a way to get out of the cycle. Some may do so successfully,
    others will
There are those who would claim that that's our role in life.
Some may think so, probably not the majority of people.
stay in the same role forever.
    Most most probably do.
    Undoubtedly.

Inertia, which almost by definition is our default state,
ensures that this s the case.

If the buzz can continue, and the local management doesn't
give in to the temptation of cutting corners (I'm not certain
how close corporate oversight will be as the distance grows
    from the headquarters).
I'm sure Wegman's thought thru all of that before they started expanding
out of the greater Rochester area. There's probably training schools for

    That was a while ago.

all levels of workers, from stockers to cashiers to the specialty shop workers to the upper levels of administration.

The question is how long quality oversight of thst level
can last and to what distance.

Price comparisons aren't supposed to take into account sales,
house brands, etc. Comparisons of house brands would have to
take more factors into account, such as product quality, which
takes a simple rough guide into something far more complex and
probably not great bang for the buck.
A lot of time/money spent on something with little to show for it in the
    end.

But not wholly useless. Like weather forecasts. Speaking
of which, we're only going to be in the 60s today, but
single-digit humidity and 30-mph winds with gusts of 50+
combine to put us on red alert for wildfires. All three
of these were predicted last week for today through Friday
and have come to pass. The good thing is that laundry out
on the line dries in an hour.

    presumably making money at it.
I earn my pin money by sewing.
I don't have an ATM card and thus don't get pin money!
But let, say, Sean speak up on the subject.
OK with me. Figured you might catch the sewing/pin relationship tho.
Did. Tried to match one for one pun for pun.
I wasn't sure what the refernce to Sean was.

Sean, I believe, did some of that kind of work
at one point. I could be mistaken.

served as children left home for various reasons but Mom continued
to > can tomatoes until about 2008. For all I know, there might still
be some > jars on the shelves in the cellar.
I'd try them if they were offered.
We had no choice in the matter--eat them! They always ran into the

    I meant 2008 tomatoes in 2019.

mashed potatoes and meat, making a mess of everything. We were never

That's how new dishes get invented!

allowed to have a separate bowl for them as Dad did, never knew why but
it would have been neater. But, we survived that part of childhood
    also.
