If I had known you needed more the blender, I would have gotten that
part of the Ninja out. That has a tower of three sets of blades (six
cutting edges) and spins faster than the food processor. It would likely
have gotten the finer cut that you wanted. Alternately, we have a couple

As far as the garlic goes, I probably should have done the
traditional way, mashing and cutting with a knife and salt.
The old Cuise would have done it well, because its lower
blade arm was fitted with a very tight clearance to the
bowl, something that doesn't obtain in the new ones.

of smootie jars with one large blade topped with a second tiny blade set
more vertically. However, they would have been too small for the
    quantity you made.

I'd have had to do the garlic separately and combined with the
potatoes in the big one for a final whirl. The texture of the
potatoes was less than optimal because of my choice of potatoes,
which was guided by what Publix had. I didn't see the best kind
for the purpose except in bags; I probably should have gotten
a whole bag, as the remainder would not have gone to waste.
