It's only meat... :) Just because it comes from the tail..... ;)
Well, there are various ways to look at that issue.
It's only organic matter now.- Philip K. Dick
Don't eat people! - Flanders and Swann
Ah, but we were talking about oxtails... ;) Only mildly exotic... :)

We could have been talking about roast leg of insurance
salesman (another Flanders and Swann conceit) - It's only
meat. Just because it comes from a human ... .

    Always some catch... ;)
If it's fish, no sale. I have discovered she'll eat human
    chicken.
    Cooked of course.
Our two aren't keen on uncooked fish, chicken or meat... but generally like it all once it's been cooked... even with some spicing... :)
Is human chicken anything like long pig?
Not really... I'm sure CT Ruth meant chicken intended for human
consumption, as opposed to coming from a can designated as cat food...
and certainly not chicken-tasting humans.... ;)

I dunno, maybe she wanted to buck the trend.

I suppose that campi or octopi might be useful in poetry for the
rhyme... ;) We have a friend that calls us the Backi.... She also
thinks the plural of spouse is spice... ;)

If you have more than one spouse, that might qualify
    as spice.

By the way, is a pureed shrimp soup flow scampi?
Wouldn't it need to have lots of garlic in it...? ;)

Not necessarily, but that would sound like a sensible
    addition.

    Houghton is a fair distance
away from Rochester (@75 miles) so we didn't have that much contact with any goings on in the city as a general rule.
One would have to make a special trip to get up to Rochester, after all.... ;)
That's why humans have opposable thumbs.
That could be an additional use for the opposable thumb, indeed... :)

I reread, and my eyes said 875 miles, and I thought,
gee, New York isn't THAT big.

In the case of the committee meeting, it was like speaker phone but
being able to see his expressions, and, I think, he could see all of us, as well....
Well, that's fine for you to say. [grumpy face]
True... not much advantage when the vision itself is compromised...

Yeah. Bonnie's audiologist has touted a nouveau hearing aid
that automatically switches among voices at a conference. Of
course, that would seem to mean that the loudest voice would
be the only one heard. Maybe, though, that's what happens at
    meetings anyway,

I was supposed to call my bank, and Ian said it would
cost hardly anything at all from his phone, but I'm
still too much of a luddite to use it so finessed the
    issue in another way.
Fortunately calling my son via the skype account doesn't require me not
to be a luddite... I just make the phone call as though he were up at
the Pond and somehow it gets to him no matter where he is in the world,
as long as he's somewhere that has the internet/wifi at the moment....

Very cool, and some Russian serf is listening in on every
    word, no doubt.

Oh, ok... between the trip to Hoares and the picnic, then....
Yeah, when I return to the US.
Hopefully it behaves at least until then... :)
If it doesn't, it'll cost less to treat.
Out-of-pocket, perhaps... possibly not in time or downtime...

Well, we're within spitting distance of Scripps now,
    with no recent disasters.

Ah... that's what was plagiarised.... Only get away with that where no
one had heard it before... :) At least the composer knew a good thing when he heard it... (G)
Probably one of the most important things in doing a
crime is to minimize the chance of getting caught, and
being elsewhere is a good way for doing that.
As long as it can be kept in the "elsewhere"... (G)

Much more difficult to do these days, being elsewhere.

    Shrimp Bisque
    Categories: soup, appetizer, shellfish
    Servings: 4 to 6

1 lb shrimp, shelled and deveined, reserve the shells
    2 leeks
    3 Tb olive oil
    2 cloves garlic
    1/4 ts cayenne pepper
    1/4 c cognac or brandy
    1/4 c dry sherry
    4 Tb butter
    1/4 c flour
    2 c half and half
    1/2 c tomato paste
1 ts salt, or to taste
1 ts freshly cracked black pepper
    h - garnish
    baby shrimp or chopped shrimp
    thyme leaves

First make the stock. Put 4 c water in a pot along with the
shrimp shells and bring to a boil. Let simmer for 15 min.
Strain the broth and add water if necessary to make 3 3/4 c.
    Set aside.

Slice the leeks and then rinse them thoroughly to remove any
grit. Heat the oil in a soup pot and saute the leeks for
5 min until softened but not browned. Add the garlic and
cook for 1 min. Add the cayenne and the shrimp and cook,
stirring constantly, until the shrimp are cooked, 3 min.

Add the cognac and cook 1 min, then the sherry, and cook for
    3 more min.

Puree the mixture in 2 batches in a food processor until it
    is coarsely pureed. Set aside.

Melt the butter in the same pan and add the flour - cook
1 min, stirring constantly. Do not let it brown. Add the
half and half and cook over medium heat until it is hot
and thickened. Stir or whisk constantly.

Stir in the pureed shrimp, the stock, tomato paste, salt,
and pepper and heat over medium heat until hot but not
boiling. Season to taste, and serve in small bowls,
garnished with fried leeks or chopped shrimp and thyme leaves.
