I might have mislaid the Belgian stuff, more later.
Next is a trip to Aldi to see if there's anything
interesting. Problem is that French Aldi has most
of the same things as TJ's.
How similar to the American Aldi?

The feel seems similar, but then I've been to
American Aldi only a time or two. I'm more in
TJ's territory and more of a TJ's person.

very forgettable ones. But, that could probably be said about most
    any > adventure. (G)
One actually counts on a good percentage of
    forgettable ones.
And, what may be memorable to one person, might be forgettable to
someone else on the same adventure.

A lot of life is better if it isn't particularly memorable.

Probably not a lot of difference between crazy and genius sometimes, other times, a wide gap.
Sometimes it's a time gap. Others it's an everything gap.
It happens, like it or not. (G)

I've met a bunch of geniuses and a bunch of crazies. The
overlap in my experience is zero.

    Presumably blood type isn't dispositive.
    Couldn't prove it by me.
We're direct counterexamples to each other in this
regard. It's a good thing, though, in general, as we
have one of the commoner blood types.
Actually, we're one of the rarer types; it goes O, A, B, AB in order
from the most to least common. Positive, tho, is commoner than negative
    in each grouping.

We're the third commonest group; the vast majority are the
first two, but five types are rarer than ours, and about
half the blood supply is transfusible to us.

But Berlin has so nany more green areas scattered thruout the city!
We > found them enjoyable, plus the district we lived in, felt more
like a > neighborhood than part of a big city.
Than Paris, likely, but New York has that big old
Olmsted park in the middle that improves the numbers.
But Central Park is just one big old park in the city; Berlin has its
    green spots spread thruout.

New York is 10% park land, so that's not to sniff at.
Some of the European cities may do better - Berlin,
which I love, is likely more, but Munich, which I also
love, is likely less. Paris, which I'm not that fond
    of, definitely has less.

    Plume's Marmalade Tart
    Categories: French, Dordogne, dessert
    Yield: 8 servings

    250 g shortcrust pastry; see note 1
    120 g butter; see note 2
    120 g sugar; see note 2
2 md eggs; see note 2
    1/2 Tb plain flour
    4 Tb marmalade

    notes
1 As usual this means shortcrust made with this weight
    of flour.
2 If your eggs are large or very small, weigh them
(shell and all) and use the same weight of sugar and
    butter as egg.

Preheat oven to 220C/450F. Roll pastry thinly and line
a 22 cm tart tin. Par bake blind in hot oven.

Meanwhile, cream sugar and butter together. Beat egg
lightly, and add with the flour to the butter/sugar
mixture. Add marmalade and mix well. When the pastry
shell is cold again, pour the mixture into it and
bake at 200C/400F for 20 to 30 mins. The filling will
swell and become brown during the cooking but will
sink again when cooled. It is done, when it only moves
slightly whrn the tart is shaken gently.

There's an Aldi in WF, should you care to check it out. We'll go there
as a convenience, rather than making the trip to Raleigh. That said, we
may be going to TJ's more often with the Wegman's opening up in 11 days.
The Wegman's plaza is right by the TJ's plaza and a block or so from
    Costco.

    Basically, yes.

I think there might be a bit of overlap there. Maybe it's just
perception but haven't some geniuses been thought of as crazy at times, especially before their genius was recognised as such?

    Presumably blood type isn't dispositive.
    Couldn't prove it by me.

Had to remember my high school biology there. I've donated blood several times--always been appreciated because they prefer a same type match. (I
can also fill the bag fast.) Never have had the need for a transfusion
but Steve was given a couple of units when he had his jaw surgery
    problems.

I saw a good bit of green (peersonal, guided tour of the city) in Munich
when I visited my cousin there. Of course he knew where to go to
highlight the green. (G) Never been to France so can't say anything
    about Paris.

i was in WF last week and the week before monitoring some retaining walls being
installed over off of rogers road... i've been by the aldi and didn't even know
it but i have seen the lidl up on #1ALT and 98 when i went hunting the dollar general for asprin and gatorade...

about 1 to 1.5 hour drive depending on traffic around apex, cary and the northern part of the loop of the 440 around raleigh... i don't do toll roads to
the 540 is out... straight in and straight up capital blvd until i hit the #1ALT into WF...

i thought about you and steve a few times while i was up there but didn't follow through... didn't have all the info from this echo available with me and
no real access to the BBS from remote on my tablet... would definitely make contact first before just showing up... i'm not "that guy" ;)

If you saw the Lidl on 98 & South Main, you were only a few blocks from
where we live. We're in the Tyler Run/Holding Ridge subdivision, across
from the aquarium shop & produce stand on S. Main. The DG is in town, on
    the Rennissance plaza.

We usually don't do the toll part of 540 either--have done it a couple
of times but with our EZ Pass instead of having them bill us.

OK, my e-mail is at the bottom here; I check it on my phone or computer
several times during the day. Any chance you will be able to come up for
any or all of the picnic--last week end of this month from Thursday
afternoon to Monday morning, main "eats" day is Saturday.
