As with the thing in Punkt Kontrapunkt from the Hoffnung
Music Festival, "you must not play this note, you must only
think it." I've seen a couple tags from various people that
Wave the hand over the keys and music will appear? interesting theory
    but not practical in reality.

No theory, just parody. But look up ondes Martenot and
Theremin, instruments where you wave the hand over and
    the music appears.

have strayed across the fence, but when it seems inadvertent,
I'm not very loud about it.
I'll mentally bite my tongue in those cases.

As the rules say, only moderatores are allowed to discuss
moderation. I've noted a certain amount of violation here
but don't care all that much at this point.

Sometimes memories are the best thing to come out of a place or experience. Food may not be good but if you were at a place in good company, you would tend to remember the latter over the former.
    With me it's a mix.
    Probably so with most people.

I should hope so, and the situation has a lot to do with
    it. I went to a friend's big birthday (30, 35, I forget)
a few years back, which was held in a former actual imperial
palace, and though all the guests were friends, and all but
two close friends, if the food had been subpar, the occasion
would have been a letdown. Luckily, though the dishes were
not worthy of a king, the were all quite good. some as good
as anything I've had outside a palace.

spiralized zucchini, and so on? You can guess mine (low).
They're good as veggies but not a replacement for pasta. Years ago
    we
Hah, I wouldn't be inclined to touch them unless there
were a strong sauce to go with (and likely not even then).
Some are pretty good as parts of a stir fry.

    You won't convert me!

Spaghetti squash of course is a marketing dodge to
make a perceived virtue out of an undesirable
characteristic (stringy to the point of inedibility
    flesh).
We've found that fixing it this way makes it pretty good, but, YMMV.

I have had a dish in which it was acceptable. It had lots
of both meat and olive oil in it.

My preferred angel hair done pretty much at all has no
    white core.
How is it cooked--mush or al dente?

That's kind of a peculiar question, isn't it?!

whole wheat so doesn't get mushy like white pasta does.
But it tastes funny. On the other hand, check out my
To you, but not to us. We've been eating it for quite a few years.
    And look at you!
    Living and breathing.

"It just seems that way" (punchline of a joke).

    Roman Meal I mentally clumped in with Hollywood Diet;
I know it's not in the same category at all except for
the not-good-tastingness and the added fiber.
It was a baby step in the road to full conversion to whole wheat.

Luckily I've not taken that route.

mashed potatoes have 22 grams of carbs, no listing available for the zuchinni as it's a newer menu item and the app hasn't been updated
    in > several years.
Depends of course on the amount of breading. The fat content
is likely a lot greater, though, so the "healthiness" depends
on what you're trying to minimize.
It's more of a scattering of bread crumbs than a full on breading.
Doesn't seem to have a lot of fat to it.

Heh, and I'm internally asking, then what's the point?

When you did > come back with the news that you didn't do the trip and why, it was
    quite the surprise.
    To me, too!
    Most especially you. (G)

I guess I could have made part of the trip, but
the chances were good the return would have been
in a lie-flat bed other than a desirable one.

I believe I've eaten at McDonald's only in states
starting with M and N. Also Ireland and Germany or
France, I forget which. I've also stood by while Lilli
had a burger and fries elsewhere.
I've had McD's in a few more states but some of it was while child
raising. Sometimes it was better to go that route than a fancy sit down
    meal.

You do what you have to. I might have abandoned the
kids. Lucky I didn't try to be a parent.

    Bran Muffins
    cat: tastealike, breads
    Yield: 30 servings

    3 c buttermilk
    3 eggs
    1/3 c oil
    1 1/2 ts baking soda
    1 1/2 ts baking powder
    1 ts salt
    1 ts vanilla
    1 c sugar
    3 c Bran flakes - slightly crush
    3 c all-purpose flour

Put first 3 ingredients through blender on high speed 20 sec.
Pour into bowl and beat in remaining ingredients at low speed
of mixer until completely mixed. Cover and refrigerate 24 hr.
Fill greased muffin well almost full and bake at 400F for 20
to 25 min or until cracked on top and a toothpick inserted in
center comes out clean. Up to 1 Tb plumped raisins can be
added to each well of batter before baking.

There ought to be, for those, especially children, who

Theremin, instruments where you wave the hand over and
    the music appears.

I'm somewhat aware of the latter but not the former. Guess it's time to
    do some research.

have strayed across the fence, but when it seems inadvertent,
I'm not very loud about it.

As long as we don't stray too far into left field.

Sounds interesting, and a good time had by all.

    I'm not trying to.

What about cheese? That usually makes anything better.

No, seeing as how some people can ruin even the most basic things. My
mom probably would have cooked it to mush.

Some days, very much so, actually.

    Roman Meal I mentally clumped in with Hollywood Diet;
I know it's not in the same category at all except for
the not-good-tastingness and the added fiber.
It was a baby step in the road to full conversion to whole wheat.

    Your choice, our choice.

I'd rather have it than the mashed potatoes at OG.

    Understood--and nobody wants that.

Harder to abandon kids these days--the "nanny state" doesn't allow you
to leave kids alone for any length of time. You'd be in big trouble,
fast, even if it was an unintentional "abandonment".
