Time will tell. Got your medical appointments lined up?
Sort of, but I may have to do more with that, as some
    side effects are getting obtrusive.
Just make sure you report all of them--hopefully things that can be
    treated.
Essentially, the device threatens to pop out of my
chest, and the only solution to that is have it
removed in a controlled fashion before it decides to
    leave in an uncontrolled fashion.

That is rather obtrusive... and a bit scary besides... when is that
likely to be taken care of...?

It's not just McDonald's. Many of the big QSR chains are going to self-service kiosks. Money-wise, it's a better investment than human workers but from the service point of view, not many people like
having to interface with a box.

I much prefer to interface with a real person, and not just when
    something goes wrong....

That doesn't bother me, of course, but I am in what seems to be the minority.
Yes, I am one of those that use the self-service lines at grocery
stores and Walmart. Like I said above, I am one of the rare few, it seems, that can use self-service without issues.

Richard will use the self-checkout lines at BJ's, and there always seem
to be quite a few that are also availing themselves of them... but I'd
still rather go through the line and deal with a regular cashier, even
though I'd probably not really have any issues with them...

One of our blood draw stations has gone to a touchscreen check-in... it
happens not to work very well, and it was good that Richard was with me
the time I went there, as it wasn't obvious that it wasn't connecting
with the back... and they only come out to call you back when they
realize you are there... just a bit on the frustrating side....

... The slowest checker is always at the quick check-out lane.

But of course.... think of the backup in the regular lanes should s/he
    be working them....

... Talk about memory, this system includes a sense of guilt.
