I'm not desperate enough I guess.
    I suppose not, then... ;)
I have however been hand-stitching a crocheted bird onto a lap
quilt. Made the quilt, but found the bird.
That sounds like a worthy (and fun) project... :)

Got it finished and made a small nap pillow to go with - a lightning strike took out my modem and I was off line for five days. Eek.

So you had plenty of time to work on the sewing... ;) But five days
with no modem is long enough to trigger withdrawal pangs... I know...
we've had that not that long ago ourselves, within the last year
    anyway....

I still exchange them with some cousins, family and a few
friends. I also do a Secret Santa exchange or two. It's worth squirreling away useful bits for that sometimes.
Haven't had Secret Santa exchanges for years... and the friends I
used to exchange gifts with are either gone now, or we got out of
the habit... The family got so large that they didn't want to do
gift exchanges any more, just a White Elephant game/gift exchange
    perhaps, at the family get-together....

It's even worth hunting for those. I do a "Maccabee Swap" at
Chanukkah too, but that one uses new items.

Ours can be new or used, whatever strikes one's fancy to wrap up and
enter... some are gag items, some are nice ones... I've teice ended up
with a box of chocolates to bring home and share with Richard... ;)
