Like Sound of Music, it seems to strike a chord with
more people than you'd expect it to. And being a
product of that tradition, he was probably even more
affected by the whole gestalt (sob).
    True.... and probably.... ;)
So Letitia sang Climb Every Mountain as an encore for the
impresario, who teared up as he always does, which is sort
of weird; this time she did, too, though as she's done this
for him several times, she was afraid that she'd laugh in
the middle of it. Perhaps it's that Patrick had a serious
infection this spring and was in an induced coma for four
weeks, and people have the feeling that his concert series
may be coming to an end soon.

    Realizing mortality can do that...

See, the researchers and inventors who worked so hard to
make energy efficiency a reality didn't count on our
infinite capacity to create waste and annoyance.
You mean transistors instead of tubes, and so forth...? No doubt this sort of thing never entered their minds,,,,
Miniaturization leading to more energy efficiency, so
where people used to dream of a Cray on a chip, you
now get a bunch of Fenders on a chip.
Definitely boosting the annoyance factor.... ;>
In the last week I've only once heard a car go by
saying BOOMPA BOOMPA BOOMPA. The French, though they
may have their shortcomings, have a lot to teach us.

We don't have the boomboxes on wheels up at the Pond, either... :)

I figure if I survive past my money (a decade)
I'll have someone start a GoFundMe page for me.
In theory, I have a place at the Actors' Fund
retirement community, the catch being that they
    think I'm already dead.
At some point, you might want to disabuse them of that notion... ;)
Possibly; I might get around to it before I die.

And afterwards, it wouldn't really matter...

Possibily.... or I've had exceptionally good luck staying under the
radar when pushing the limits... :)
    Knowing you, that's a possibility.
I do generally become thought of as one of the medical team... probably helps in the being tolerated there... (G)
Subversive. Like Francois de Larochefoucauld the eighth
or ninth, who was Louis's bestie and warned him about
the Revolution; and the day after sending the king off
became president of the National Assembly.

Not quite on that scale, anyway... (G)

else, like FIDO's Cookbook, also mostly for fun.
    Is that something actually published....?
Yeah. A fairly large Samizdat that was a giveaway
at I think the first Clam Crawl.

So no longer available... and, as I surmised, before my time....

Someone gave me a bunch of E pills that they didn't
have use for, and after one of the ones I took, I
burped up the characteristic odor of oxidation and
rancidness. Either E is more prone to decomposition
than people claim or that batch was contaminated.
I suspect a little of each... my experience with the capsules has been
that it will oxidize, generally sooner than later... the little bottles
of the vitamin E oil seem to age better... at least the oil doesn't
smell rancid when applied... For many years I've only used the E as a topical (mainly for sunburn and the like), and not internally...
I wonder if there's anything heinous about the
oxidized form. Like causes all the diseases that
the fresh stuff is supposed to prevent.

Probably not... just tastes nasty when burbed back, and smells off when
    used topically... ;)

... Best way to get rid of kitchen odors: Eat out. - Phyllis Diller
Okay. But some of us actually like kitchen odors.

Kitchen odors don't really bother me, either... I have heard discussion
here, though, of certain kitchen odors of particular foods being less desireable... ;)
