something else now, Zetia (azetimibe [or something like that]), which
seems to not be so nasty to him...
Good stuff, at least for me. I was put on it as soon as it came on
the market. It's what took my cholesterol levels from the 190-200
range down to the 120's (although my last number was, to me an
abnormally low, 108 and nobody seemed excited about it except me since
in 1987 I was in the 350+ range :-). Back when it was in the 190+
range I was taking the maximum dose of Zocor. Now I'm taking Ezetimibe/Simvastatin, aka Vytorin (brand name). Which is a mix of
Zetia and Zocor (the brand names).
Richard had problems with all the various statins, so can't take any of
them at all... they put him on a biologic, and that brought the
cholesterol way down... but gave him severe flu symptoms every time he
injected a dose (every two weeks)... His cholesterol isn't all that
high, but with the heart issues, they want it lower... At least the
Zetia hasn't had so many or as severe side effects as the other drugs...
and seems to be working at the cholesterol level sufficiently...
