Some people never outgrow their taste for kid food.

    "beef-a roni"

I started enjoying some childhood foods a second time in my forties,
25 years after having giving them up. Even today I occasionally like
breakfast cereal with milk as a bedtime snack, peanut butter
sandwiches, Kraft Dinner and yes I had a can of Chef Boyardee
beefaroni for lunch at work today. The only difference between now
and then as today I heated it in a microwave rather than a suace pan
and then squirted hot sauce over it.

    Cheers

    Jim

I still eat peanut butter, but then so does my 89 year-old mother. The breakfast cereal gets eaten without the milk, straight out of the box.
(at least when my mouth is up to it; I just had some dental work that
had me living on yogurt etc for a few days.) I don't think I could get
Chef Boyardee down even with hot sauce.

Messaging Nancy about my missionary cousins reminded me of their
tales of the peanut (along with other kinds of groundnuts) harvest
in Nigeria. The first day kids and adults alike gorged on boiled
nuts, day two was roasted nuts and day three was peanut butter at
every meal, including peanut sauce for meat dishes. By day four
everyone was sick of them in every form. Not unlike people who pick
berries commercially or work in chocolate factories.

The breakfast cereal gets eaten without the milk, straight out
    of the box.

How primitive! [g] My version involves 1 part cream, 3 parts milk,
and some kind of fruit plus maybe coconut or almond flakes.

I don't think I could get Chef Boyardee down even with hot
    sauce.

You exaggerate. It is perhaps mediocre but not outright disgusting.
And at 99 cents a can, a very inexpensive, quick lunch at on office
which only has a microwave to cook with. Obviously homemade is
    vastly superior.

I'd use ground pork not turkey, some of the fat rendered out of
the meats, not cooking spray and add a little hot sauce or ground
    chilies. - JW

Try some of the "yellow label" Chef Boyardee "throwback" recipes. They taste much, much better than the "modern red label" stuff.

I love toasted peanut butter sandwiches with some chips on the side with a glass of milk (or Morning Moo's). I will eat them for lunch any day of the week and occasionally dinner after I get home from a late-night (10-11 PM ending) shift. I can't take my diabetes meds on an empty stomach lest I pay dearly for it later.

    Later,
    Sean

That doesn't surprise me. I've heard the same about Matzoh from
folks who celebrate Passover. First day "oooh matzhoh. We get Matzoh
again." By the last day "I don't ever want to see matzoh again."

Darned tootin'. Then again I generally eat cereal at 9PM, not 9AM.

The last I looked, they put sugar in the sauce. I've tried eating
kid food sauce, but it's nasty.

If I run across some at some point, I might try them if only to see
if they're as bad as I remember.

I don't tend to eat chips, but will eat the peanut butter on toast as breakfast sometimes. No white bread though.

It can happen with almost any food, even lobster. The one exception
is brewery workers still like drinking beer.

Same here. I don't do breakfast on work days although I do like
hearty brunches on weekends but with lots of eggs and cured pork,
    not cereal.

It's difficult to get sick of beer, and it helps not being able to
    drink on the job.
