I still have my copy... Just don't have all the ingredients
for them on hand any more unless I make a special effort to
    get them...
I keep the ingredients on hand as a matter of course. If you
don't use the whole wheat flour very often, keep it in the
fridge for freshness. If you really don't use a lot of it,
    freeze it.
I tried keeping it in the fridge, and it only took up room I
needed for other stuff... same with keeping it in the freezer...
If I were wanting to use it, I'd get it fresh, in a small
    quantity...

I know the space crunch. Right now my flours (ww and ww pastry) are on
top of the freezer as the fridge is just full enough.........

Had I time and energy at the same time, I might do an overhaul of fridge
and freezer... it's not likely soon... ;)

The tube biscuits I liked were a special variety from
Pillsbury, that had no preservatives and only natural
ingredients... forget the name, something like Pure and
Simple or something wholesome sounding... (G)
I wouldn't know. We did find some Annie's (as in Annie's mac
& cheese Annie) tube cinnamon rolls in the Hanniford's in
Oneonta. Did see them down here in one of the stores but I
don't remember which one. We got a tube (very rare for us)
and Steve made them in the camper micro/convection oven.
I've seen those in our store from time to time... haven't tried
    them...

They're pretty good for a commercial product.

As was the case with the Pillsbury ones... It was a white tube instead
of their usual blue... I'm still sorry they discontinued the line...
maybe we were only a test market... :)

We had to take the Juki to Cary because that's where the repair shop is
for them. Same with the Pfaff in Raleigh. Some machines can be repaired anywhere but the more specialised it is, the more apt to go to an
authorised repair place it goes. Don't know how close the Juki place is
to where the Wegman's is going up. Stopped for a few things at Sam's on
the way home and had a not quite as cheap as the Shipp's cheap date for
lunch. We had pizza instead of a hot dog and split a chocolate frozen
yogurt. Their pizza isn't as good as my home made. (G)

Raleigh. They announced last week that the area where it will be
going in, will be called Midtown East. Said that the shopping
area where it is to go is 86% committed with tenants. It will be
right near Trader Joe's and Costco so very convenient for us,
much more so than going to Cary.
That sounds very nice... :) Just have to wait another year and
    a half... ;0
The one in Cary will be open sooner but I don't see us going down
there very often. Did go there yesterday to pick up the Juki
(sewing machine) that had been put in for repairs but that's not
    a normal run.
Once they open the Cary one, you'll probably go check it out...
especially when/if you can combine it with something else.... :)
Did you have to take the Juki to a different shop than you took
    the Pfaff...?

We had to take the Juki to Cary because that's where the repair shop
is for them. Same with the Pfaff in Raleigh. Some machines can be
repaired anywhere but the more specialised it is, the more apt to go to
an authorised repair place it goes.

That's pretty much what I was figuring... but not sure if the place you
took the Pfaff might have also been authorized for the Juki...

Don't know how close the Juki place is to where the Wegman's is
going up. Stopped for a few things at Sam's on the way home and
had a not quite as cheap as the Shipp's cheap date for lunch. We
had pizza instead of a hot dog and split a chocolate frozen yogurt.
Their pizza isn't as good as my home made. (G)

Of course not.... but it was convenient and already made... ;)

    Hi Nancy,

Actually, yes. Pulled out a few things yesterday to use this week or
when we load up the camper and could see that a fair amount of
progress has been made to that end.

So likely a go when you get home... ;)

Not sure if it will be after this trip or after VT, when it will be
    emptier yet.

they've been discontinued. Won't know until you contact them.
True... maybe I'll find some time to do that... :)

    Exactly. :)
That's the way things seem to go around here too.

Last night I e-mailed a quilt company about getting some replacement fabric for a couple of pieces I'd cut wrong. This morning there was an e-mail in my box from the head of the company, asking for my mailing address so it could be sent. Don't know if your turn around time would
be that fast but, you won't know until you start the process.

That's a pretty good turnaround... I'd first have to figure out the contact information for Pillsbury... probably preferably an 800
    number... ;)

Wed. she e-mailed me that it was in the mail, should get it tomorrow.
Pillsbury might not be that fast.

still wouldn't put it past someone to get the specialized training
in the computerised appliances for more than one or two brands...
just have to be willing to work... ;)

The shop I was familiar with was in Syracuse... ;) But, yes, especially
for being in a small town where there won't be any other shops nearby
    for the other brands... :)

Very convenient. Had an Italian sausage with peppers and onions
at Costco yesterday after picking up a number of things for the
    trips.
    Sounds tasty... :)
Quite so, but the hot dog type roll that it comes on is less
    than stellar.
Can't have everything... what did you expect...? (G)
We've had them before so we knew what to expect. Still, it would
be nice if they could do something a little bit more upscale,
save the hot dog rolls for hot dogs. (G)
I suppose you could always make a suggestion to headquarters...
see what they do with it... (G)

Worst they could say is "no". They might say "we'll think about it" or they could say "yes".

    Hi Nancy,

I was thinking of the things that might tempt you to put some

    :)
Possibly; have to see when we get back.

    Very much so!

Along with other potential projects... ;)

Always a lot of those to do. (G)

Wed. she e-mailed me that it was in the mail, should get it
tomorrow. Pillsbury might not be that fast.
Probably not... Did you get the replacement fabric before you
had to leave on the trip...?
I did, looks like a good match. Have to drop a note to let them
know it came in and "thanks for their help".
    Nice. :)
    That's what I thought.
So, have you acknowleged it to them yet...?

No, been off line for a bit so will do it while we're stopped for a
    while.

    All in good time... :)

At some point it will be done.

Fridges seem to be getting more and more expensive as they grow in size

And so another one lands in the recycle facility or land fill. We have a

A lot of miles for only 4 days. Some of our milage was run around town when we were visiting but very little compared to the road miles.

200-some of mine was traveling between Columbia and Bethesda and Annapolis... those miles added up quickly...! :)

Quite, and glad you weren't in Annapolis yesterday.

Pan fried burgers for supper one night in the truck parking area of a

we ate just as fast as if we'd stopped at a take out place.

Seems that way, so many people end up buying a new microwave
when the old one could be fixed for a few $$, if the part were
    available.
The problem usually being that the part isn't available...
    There's the rub.
    Yup.

And so another one lands in the recycle facility or land fill. We have
a place near the landfill where we can take electronics such as
computers, microwaves, etc; paint; batteries and such like so they
don't land in the general landfill until stripped of all recyclable
    parts.

Recycle would be our first choice in that case... :)

When we had to replace our fridge, we went for stripped down
and inexpensive... We went without an icemaker to have more
space available in the freezer compartment for food...water in the
door tends to just give you one more thing to break down... ;)
We have an ice maker in the top mount freezer--nice to have it
there. This fridge came with the house, still looking to see
what we might replace it with, when and if.......
So that when the time comes that you need to replace, you'll

Basically, yes. Main thing will probably be deciding capacity and
    color.
Depending on what's available and for how much.... ;)

Yes, we won't be too fussy on the color choice but the capacity, more
    so.

    Hi Dale,

I've seen that but WF just has green cans for both.

Our outside bin for recycle is blue. The one for trash/garbage can be anything.

Blue is the color I've seen most often for recyles. I've no idea why WF
went with green for both cans; it can be confusing.

up every other week now, but the barrel is big enough to hold many bins-worth... We put that one out more often than the trash... :)

    Ditto here.

We put it out weekly, no matter how full. Don't want trash smell, especially in hot weather, longer than we have to. But yes, usually
the recycle can is fuller than the regular trash can.

We take the garbage from the kitchen to the garage container often,
but do not always take the garage one out to the curb if it only has
one bag of not smelly stuff.

Very rarely do we not put out the regular trash. Helps keep us in the
routine, gets rid of any possible smelly stuff, etc. Because of the
holiday, our trash was not picked up until yesterday but we still didn't
have a lot in the regular can. Recycle, as usual, was fuller. We also
keep a compost bucket by the sink--that has reduced our regular trash
    can accumulation considerably.

For the Fourth we had a small neighborhood parade at 10 am, mostly
police cars, fire trucks, politicians and scout packs. Some years
there are a bit more kooky groups formed to march, such as a Black and Decker drill team.

WF has a kid's bicycle/wagon/walk/etc parade on the 4th with activities
to follow. Steve was out for a while helping with the VFW Chuck Wagon
this year; I got some work done at home. (G)

Then we had family and extended family and some other guests over for
a hamburger cook out. Gail made her potato salad, pecan pie and key
    lime pie.

    Sounds good, especially dessert. (G)

Had a bit extra ground beef so just browned it up and tossed
it into the pasta sauce that went for another meal.

We had extra ground beef and Gail turned it into meat balls. Some
eaten the next day or so as spagetti and meat balls, and the rest
    frozen for
    future use.

We were on the road at the time so didn't have all the ingredients to
make meat balls. It wasn't a lot of meat, maybe about 2-3 meat ball's
worth so better browned and tossed in with the sauce we already had.

any trash smell from them... When the inside trash bag is either full
or getting stinky, it goes out to the barrel.. but there's a lot of
    room
there, and we really don't generate much trash... :)

We take it out weekly just to keep on a consistant routine. Easy to
remember that the trash gets rounded up on a certain night, then taken
out to the curb. Of course if the inside cans are full before the week
is up, they go out then. We also recycle plastic bags from (wherever)
    into trash bags. (G)

It allowed us to get back on the road quickly so we could get
back to NC for the funeral.
Which, after all, was the important thing... :)

Yes, it was pushing a bit but we made it. My sister in law knew that
we were going to try to make it but I think she was a bit surprised
that we actually did. Found a nice little family oriented camp ground nearby that we parked at.

    That was convenient... :)

Quite, one we might stay at if we go out that way (state zoo is in
Asheboro, Southern Supreme fruitcake place isn't too far away) for a few
    days with the camper.

other trash. But, that would confuse the collectors so......
Here, they've issued recycle cans (a different color than the
trash one) that are the same size as the trash ones...
I've seen that but WF just has green cans for both.
They each have their own systems... ;) Recycle here is blue
(it used to be the "blue box"), trash is green...

We had a box in HI, don't recall if it was blue or not. It went out
    every week also.

Before they issued the big blue rolling bins, there was a time when the
new recycle boxes were a dark green... at one point we had one of
    each... ;)

They only pick that up every other week now, but the barrel is
big enough to hold many bins-worth... We put that one out more
    often than the trash... :)
We put it out weekly, no matter how full. Don't want trash smell,
especially in hot weather, longer than we have to. But yes,
usually the recycle can is fuller than the regular trash can.

I've not seen any of the metal around WF. I know on yard waste pick up
days I've seen plastic "cans" (not bins) out thruout the town; the claw
seems to handle them without problem.

Pulaski, so quite convenient... :) I don't think the park store

The office/store where we camped in Oneonta (to visit Dad) had sundries
plus sweatshirts and some other souvenier-ish items. Small, but if you
weren't looking for specific/were willing to be flexible, you could get
the makings of a "canned" meal, s'mores or a Jiffy Pop pan. They had no cold/frozen section tho, but that may change when they convert to being

in the truck, use what you have. If the town/city/village etc
says to "use this only", have to go with their rules, even if
you have a useable can of some other material.
I think the metal cans are less of an issue since they hold less
than the rolling bins can... Here, they encourage using the
rolling bins, but do say that the older metal cans can be used
    if you have overflow...

I've not seen any of the metal around WF. I know on yard waste pick up days I've seen plastic "cans" (not bins) out thruout the town; the
claw seems to handle them without problem.

I wonder if those galvanized cans are even being sold any more...?
    Maybe just as storage bins...?

Pulaski, so quite convenient... :) I don't think the park store
stocked much other than bare essentials, maybe not even bread
or milk... I never even went in there...
Probably had higher prices than in town anyway in the park
store. They generally do, just to make a bit more profit.
Quite likely... and they usually only have the smallest sizes as
    well...
So larger families would have to buy several of some things like
canned soups to have sufficient quantity. I don't recall my
parents buying anything at the camp stores; we always stopped in
a local town before getting to the camp ground. In the morning,
after breaking camp, we'd stop for ice somewhere outside the camp
    grounds.
At Kenshire, where the family camped for years, the camp store
had T-shirts and sweatshirts, things like matches and probably
bug spray, a wide selection of penny candy for the kids to choose
from, and ice cream sandwiches and such... and not overly
overpriced, either... They also had bags of ice, IIRC... Dunno
what it's like now, it's under new management....

The office/store where we camped in Oneonta (to visit Dad) had
sundries plus sweatshirts and some other souvenier-ish items. Small,
but if you weren't looking for specific/were willing to be flexible,
you could get the makings of a "canned" meal, s'mores or a Jiffy Pop
pan. They had no cold/frozen section tho, but that may change when they convert to being a year round campground. They were working toward that end when we were up last, in November.

I'm a little surprised they don't have a small freezer for the ice cream novelties, those tend to be good sellers in the summer... ;) Dunno if
going year-round would make that much difference in having cold/frozen
    items available in the store...

There's also a bear proof can sold. Steve suggested to the one hardware
store in M'ville that they sell them; they claimed they wouldn't make
enough money (the cans are expensive) to make it worth their while. But
given the issues the area has with bears, they probably would sell fast,
    if stocked.

Stopped in Oneonta on the way back from VT earlier this month but

    the morning.

Possibly; some of the people in that area are very reluctant to accept new/better ideas.

No, not really. Had other things on our mind then.

No, there was a youth baseball tournament going on in Cooperstown so the campground was probably full, as we noticed in previous year's stops.
W-M was convenient; we didn't even unhitch.
