Quoting Dale Shipp to Michael Loo <=-
I have no idea what country or ethnic region this might have come
from, but it looks (a) different and (b) might be good.
Title: BABOTI
2 t Curry powder
2 lb Ground beef
1 Handful raisins
1 Egg
It's South African and usually spelled babotie. It's considered a
Cape Malay dish. Back in the Dutch Empire colonial days, the Dutch
brought a lot of what are today Indonesians from the Dutch East
Indies to South Africa as slaves. They mingled there with Indian
slaves. The four key ingredients are ground beef mixed with dried
fruit, spiced with curry powder, topped with a scrambled egg-milk
mixture. Your recipe calls for apricot jam plus raisins rather than
chopped, dried apricots and sounds quite good.
Cheers
